Much of the discussion in chat rooms nowadays is about gay for pay which is clearly what most readers want to hear about. If you’re just in Thailand for a short holiday it’s no doubt the easiest way of getting precisely what you want.
Some posters also suggest that those of us who are considerably longer in the tooth and whose girth has increased will have much more difficulty in finding pure non-commercial fun merely for the sake of it compared to our younger and fitter colleagues. I have consistently suggested this is often far from fact. My recent trip to Udon Thani bears this out.
One reason for the trip was to spend time with a student I have been chatting with for a couple of months. He was wonderful. Sure, I paid for dinner and our breakfast was part of my hotel package, but he asked for absolutely nothing else. Sadly, I knew he had to be away for a university trip and I would be left with a lot of time on my hands. So I got on to Hornet, Jack'd and Grindr. Perhaps because it was the weekend, I had 53 guys wanting to chat with me and most wanting to meet up - with Hornet being by far the most active. Only one guy brought up the issue of money and I politely ended that conversation. With the others I stressed the major age gap and was consistently met with the refrain "age doesn't matter"! Around half just weren't my type. Most of the rest I'd have happily spent time with!
Most guys were quite nearby. It wasn’t till after we met that the one whom I really liked, a teacher, and with whom I spent a great afternoon had driven more than 100 kms just to meet up. He wouldn't take anything more than a Starbucks coffee. His English was good and if he lived in Bangkok he would be very much bf material for anyone, I'm sure.
Whilst Udon is far from my idea of paradise, there sure are a lot of non-commercial guys around wanting to meet older faring.
