Friends,

we have 7 color of forum theme. After month of new forum's life please let me know what color theme you are using. It will help me to understand do we need some colors or not.

If somebody don't know where is switcher of colors: it is located at bottom-left corner of the each page just before last bottom black block - it is pull down switch with word "Metro" on it.

P.S. Why I'm asking: each color have to be supported in scripts and in design separately - when I make some improvements I have to make it for each color one by one 7 times. So if one or more colors aren't in use I can cut such job and ignore this color.

Moses, suggestion: When directing people to action places (Eg: "Metro") then those directions need to refer to the pages etc and be very precise. You know your way around this site and it is sooo easy to you. Others, maybe not so much. :)

Example: You say "If somebody don't know where is switcher of colours: it is located at bottom-left corner before last black block - pull down switch with word "Metro" on it." Suggest - If someone doesn't know where is switcher of colours; it is located near the bottom of this page underneath the About Us black box."
I think I am quite good at following instructions but it took me a while to find the switch because it is quite insignificant compared to the material around it.

Cheers, Yraen.

I grew up in the time of books; the idea of changing background color never occurred to me. Until now, I didn't even know what teal is, and I still wonder about the meaning of Metro in connection with colors.

This is a fine example of stuff I find unnecessary, but which adds complexity and consumes bandwidth and costs someone's time. If you take a look at Thai websites, you are subjected to the full horror of modern html and javascript (?) and flash player (?).

As a scientist, I can see through all this advertising and obfuscation.

There is no reason (I mean it breaks no law of physics) why apps designed for Android cannot work on Windows. It's just an unfortunate development that does not benefits the customer (but maybe the producers?), like driving on different sides of the road.

Anyway, I don't need most of stuff current software offers (I sometimes use notepad instead of Word because it's faster) and would be happy with 10 year old software on 5 year old hardware, but it's not meant to be.

Wirth's law is a computing adage which states that software is getting slower more rapidly than hardware becomes faster.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wirth%27s_law

This entire software/hardware business is a conspiracy by software and hardware developers. The development could have ended 10 years ago, but via the vicious circle of faster hardware/slower software, people have to buy new stuff. A counterexample is scientific calculator, where the development has ended and a current one looks the same and does the same as a 20 year old. I still do the same on my computer as 20 years ago (some internet surfing and some writing and look at pictures and watch videos), but I had to buy 3 computers and new software since then.

In brief: I wouldn't be the least sad if you offered the forum in only one color.

"metro" is just name of theme given by designer company,

just one color is good, but few is better, they are predesigned... the only problem: as usually designers more worry about how it looks instead of worry how to use... fonts are too small, line height too small and so on... "readability" - I have to fix that and this: fonts, line-heights in different elements such as posts, private messages, list of forums, and so on, including icons which show if forum has new posts... Metro is best from ready themes...

I'm sporting the default blue theme apparently. When in doubt as a designer, always go with blue. It's the calming color. :)

Please retain the violet red, although currently I'm the only user thus far in this survey.
I like it hot!
