Ajahn Bennett Lerner 1:00 pm celebrates his 72nd birthday with a gala multi-pianist, multi-piano event presented by The College of Music of Payap University, Chiang Mai and the Piano Club Chiang Mai. The program will feature some of Aj. Bennett’s most successful students, such as Christopher Janwong McKiggan (<http://www.mckiggan.org>www.mckiggan.org) and Soh Toomkanont (the star of Thailand's top jazz-fusion band, ETC), as well as Chiang Mai favorites, Remi Namtep, Ken Assawadecharit, Santi Saengthong, and Daniel Mañalac. Award-winning youngsters, Tara and Titan will also join in. The special guest artist will be the world-famous piano virtuosa Sara Davis Buechner. Aj. Bennett will also perform (for the first time in six years!). There will be solo and two-piano music by Debussy, Dussek, Gershwin, Gershwin-Wild, Gonzales, Guastavino, Mozart, Poulenc, Prangcharoen, Rachmaninoff, and Ravel. In addition, two guest singers, Tangmo and Ong-art, will present songs by Aj. Bennett's award-winning students Robert Lopez (Academy Award), Patiparn Jaikampang (Young Thai Artist Grand Prize), and Narong Prangcharoen (Guggenheim Award).
