Serial pest and failed pharmaceutical executive Martin Shkreli has claimed he lost $15 million worth of bitcoin yesterday after he attempted to buy the exclusive rights to Kanye WestтАЩs new album.
Mr Shkreli became widely regarded as one of AmericaтАЩs most hated men last year when he bought the rights to drug Daraprim, used primarily by those diagnosed with AIDS, and increased the price by 5400 per cent.
It seems Mr Shkreli has continued his poor decision making, offering Kanye West $US10 million yesterday to keep new album тАЩThe Life of PabloтАЩ out of the hands of fans.
тАЬI am writing to you in hopes of convincing you to withhold the release of your forthcoming studio album,тАЭ Mr Shrekli wrote in a letter to the American rapper.
тАЬInstead of releasing this product for your millions of fans, I ask you to sell this recording solely to me, for the price of $10,000,000.тАЭ
Mr Shkreli later upped the offer to $US15 million, but the deal went sour when he revealed тАЬsomeone named DaquanтАЭ had taken the money, paid using anonymous decentralised currency Bitcoin, but not delivered the album.

Hours later however Mr Shkreli said that he had gotten in touch with Bitcoin creator тАШSitoshiтАЩ who was helping him retrieve the money.

Mr Satoshi was outed last year as possibly being Craig Wright by IT magazines Wired and Gizmodo, thought Australian authorities are understood to firmly believe Mr Wright is not the creator of Bitcoin and that he may have created the hoax to distract from his tax issues.
As reported in The Australian last year there has been a worldwide hunt for the elusive Nakamoto since the launch of Bitcoin in January 2009. The currency has grown in value to be worth $US5 billion.
Mr Shkreli, who is currently facing fraud charges in New York, has been contacted for comment. Kanye WestтАЩs new album тАШThe Life of PabloтАЩ is currently streaming exclusively on Tidal.
