I thought I would share this little diddy for cdnmatt to show how crazy the Vancouver Housing Market has become with this listing. Set at 2.4 million for a tiny beat up house set on a 10 meter wide lot. I believe we are the 4th least affordable city to live in the world!

Guess I can't afford a house there.

Quite amazing since Airbnb has so many great apartments for short time stays at extremely reasonable prices. I was planning a trip there in June?

I think a lot of residents are subsidizing their mortgages by renting out their suites when they are away or have a bit of extra space to let. One thing I would caution with airbnb in Vancouver is that many are renting through airbnb illegally. Many condo's have strata laws against this practice, especially the more expensive properties with front door staff. Make sure you clarify this first.

June is a good month to come, the end of July - beginning of August best, as this is gay pride..one of the, if not the biggest in Canada. Vancouver has a big Asian population, a night life that really only gets going on the Weekends...not much during the week. Lots of boys online, not so many looking for older guys on the main sites, Manhunt, Grinder...there might be others. I know Silver Daddies is where the younger for older go...at least in Vancouver.

The Big Gay hotel in town, the Sandman (in the heart of it all) is currently occupied by Syrian refugees...so it's not taking bookings, same with the Renaissance closer to the Harbour. There are so many more to choose from, or the airbnb option.

I'll ask my friends where the action is these days and let you know!

Are there geographic issues with building further and further east? Or are certain areas just extremely hot?

Certain areas are hotter than others. The West Side, including Jericho Beach and Point Grey real estate listings (like this one) rarely come up and when they do it is usually a bidding war where properties regularly go for double or more the original listing price.

That beat up old house sole quickly for 2.5 million...80 thousand more than the original asking price.

Yeah, I still follow 103.5FM on Facebook, so this popped up in my feed. Here's another good site for absurd Vancouver real estate prices. Some examples:
