Not sure when it opens but a Thai friend told me that the work was stopped some months ago when the contractor or someone took off with a large sum of unearned cash. But let's not jump to conclusions-he probably gave it to an orphanage or some other charity. Work did resume again after the owner regained his composure. My thai friend works nearby but I can't verify his story.

Not sure if this is the one you are asking about (as I don't know where the "Ritz" is located...not a regular visitor to Jomtien Complex), but I did notice a rather impressive looking hotel being built. Called "The Agate".
Not open yet, but is looking pretty nice. This is a picture I took last week.

The swimming pool appears smaller than the one at Zing Resort & Spa next door. But the rooms look very comfortable.

Here is the link and you will note when clicking on photo gallery there are several dozen photos not just the 14 buttons shown.

It is most impressive layout and I was surprised the depth on that location.

My friend who enjoys dining out went Ericks Restaurant for the opening night and sent a few pics.

He raves over Ericks famous potato pancakes. I MIGHT try them next trip.

The Agate is a renovation and expansion of a long-dead hotel called the Mariner's Rest. Perfect for a seaside town. It's a shame the new owners thought that was too quaint.

Not open yet, but is looking pretty nice.

at least it is getting good TripAdvisor reviews already - The Agate includes one on their home page from Robyn in Sept 2015 who claims "we have had an awesome experience from the pool to the room to the roof top bar and the funky architecture. we wuld recommend this hotel to any1 wanting a unique experience in central bangkok."

I don't think "quaint" is in the new owner's marketing dictionary - again quoting from their home page, their "resort" is "the freshest addition to the Pattaya skyline" located in the well-known entertainment area "Super Town"

I think anyone who is booking a "seaside" "resort" or "spa" and ends up at either The Agate or Zing is in for a disappointment! though maybe not, neither web site has any working pages that relate to these three words and most people probably realise that the words are just marketing-speak these days and they bear no relationship to the real world any more - a small pool surrounded by a few converted shophouses will never justify using "resort", similarly a few massage beds and "spa"even if the towels are folded to look like swans!

Both of these places are in the Jomtien Complex (The Zing is the old Ganymede). The address given for them on their website makes it hard to see they are nearly next door neighbors: Zing; 413/85-86, Moo 12 Jomtien Complex Thappraya Road, Jomtien Beach, Nongpreu, Chon Buri 20150. Agate: 413-93-96 Moo 12, Jomtien Pattaya Second Road, Nongprue, Banglamung, Chonburi 20150 Thailand. (Note I cut and pasted those addresses off their websites, so any typos are theirs, not mine). If you look at the maps accompanying their website, it looks like they're both in the Jomtien Complex, and are neighbors. Which they are. I guess Moo 12 is the Jomtien Complex.
