Double Shot Bar has bought Don Plaza Hotel (Elephant Bar).
The 2 brothers in the outside bar are allowed to carry on as normal.
All rooms are to be renovated.
Good news!

The rooms were in need of renovation, that is for sure. I hope they are outfitted nicely. Could be a great home base in Sunee if they are done correctly.

It's good news cos whenever the Double Shot bar is open it brings life to the Plaza- not my kind of place but anything is better than nothing.
I guess this Belgian guy will do the same high standard renovation for the Don Plaza and this will be good for the Plaza itself also notwithstanding that it may not be my kinda place.
I don't see the world as revolving around me, though I know it should.

From earlier reports of prior guests of the hotel...
the stairs are Thai sized and STEEP...Be careful if you rent there.

Wishing them better luck in future...

Yes, I have stayed there a couple of times for short visits. The stairs are steep and there is no elevator, so for mobility limited folks, it was never a good match.

I hope it turns into something like Mosaik (with softer beds).
The lack of an elevator doesn't bother me and it would be awesome to have a nice place in the middle of Sunee Plaza.

Definitely time for an update to the Elephant Plaza Hotel. The last time I stayed there (April?) I had all sorts of trouble and as usual, had to change rooms.

The WiFi didn't work, the aircon was too noisy, the toilet refused to stop flushing, there was no hot water, the windows didn't open, the TV reception was very bad....etc, etc.

So last trip I stayed at the Ambiance and, thanks to that decision, I was able to re-aquaint myself with Boyztown.

There is no 4 star hotel in the middle of Sunee Plaza!

Location, location, location. That's why I stay at the Elephant Plaza.

And it's why I stay at the Tarntawan Place in Bangkok.

I don't stay at those hotels by choice, that's for sure.

I travel a bit and want some home comforts. Nothing wrong with that.

To each his own.

When the hotel opened, the German manager showed us the rooms. We all commented
on the very steep steps. He explained it was done to accommodate a restroom on the
lobby floor, which had had very slanted ceiling.
The decorations in the rooms were of the worst taste, giant gaudy plastic trees and flowers, mostly in purple and very tacky looking furniture. Big window in toilets so
one can watch the boys on the toilet. Bizarre.
Very badly managed unless one is a masochist.
