I've never had sex in Russia or the Ukraine. However, I'm heading off to Budapest and Prague next week and hope to be able to report some action, although I am certainly not expecting anything like Thailand.

And to be honest, I don't really care if the guys are dumb/lazy. It's none of my business, especially if I'm just having a one-off encounter. But if I'm offing a guy over multiple trips, I look for someone I can have a decent conversation with, as we spend so much time in each other's company.

You can have very good luck IMHO on Planet Romeo in both those cities. The Gay Bars in Prague the boys will demand more money and not be as good looking IMHO.

Never bothered with and Gay Bars in Budapest. Sure they'll probably be lots of Syrians there. I would skip Budapest and go to Warsaw or even better Kracow.

Speaking of which, is there a comparable alternative to the delights offered in the Far East? Is there, for example, although somehow I doubt it given the current situation in Russia, any possibility of a vibrant rent-boy sector being permitted in that country? I suppose, if anyone will know, surely latintopxxx will have first-hand knowledge. The reason I ask is that I was exchanging messages with a young Russian guy the other night. And I was surprised when he informed me that he earned a miserably low $280 a month, the equivalent of 9,747 baht, which surely must be very close to the national minimum wage in Thailand. He said his salary was barely enough to pay for his food and rent, something that sounds very familiar.

Sorry but as a regular visitor to Moscow I am afraid that the gay scene is as good as dead here. I can not speak for the whole of Russia but Moscow is very homophobic these days. Before no one cared less. Yes there are the gay bars and clubs but there are frequently targeted by the authorities and far right thugs (Putin's Youth). Some cute boys you see on the dating websites are not for real, if you see what I mean. The main gay cruising area, Kitai Gorad (China Town), where before the hard up student would go, is heavily patrolled by police. Just not worth the risk despite some Russian boys that I have meet over the years were incredibly beautiful. I would imagine that Ukraine would be OK. Plenty of cute boys there and are up for anything if it involves some extra cash. Anyway Pattaya next week for me and I can not f****ing wait.

Dodger, thanks for providing the link but if I may I'll take the report with a huge pinch of salt.

Clearly someone has already dragged the original topic WAY off to the side, so I don't feel bad about continuing that trend.

I have identified Krakow as a possible destination a number of times over the years but when I've looked into it, the hyperbole of one source often does not match the reality from others, so I haven't followed through on a visit.

In the link you posted it describes Krakow as having "..tons of Gay bars" yet does not/cannot not name a single one.

Spartacus (2014) is not so reticent - it lists precisely ZERO bars.

However it does list 5 "Men's Clubs" which are all fairly late night venues and not what I'd call bars at all:

One, (Blue XL) offers sex-parties and advises "entry from the back" (sounds about right!)
Another (Ciemnia) apparently is a cruising venue which offers naked and underwear parties and apparently - deep penetration - "go to the end of the passage" it says!
Another (Wild Club - above Blue XL club and open only late at night on Fri/Sat) in which the dress code is "underwear or nothing"! I think I'd be ejected for ugliness.
Number 4 (Cocon) is a large late-night gay "disco" with Karaoke on Thursdays, Oldies on Fri (clearly the day for SGT members to visit :)) and a house party on Saturday. It all sounds far too noisy for me and I'm willing to bet the "Oldies" are from the 2000's rather than Eartha Kitt and Donna Summer
The final contender (LaF) caters for lesbians with "lots of girls" (how that even qualifies as a gay "Men's Club" escapes me)

Moving on to the linked report of "many rescorts and rent boys in the bars" - Spartacus uses an "R" to denote this at a venue and is usually very reliable in Europe. None of the venues has an "R", so I'm rather sceptical.

That's not to say I'd advise anybody against visiting Krakow for gay fun - but it does seem the linked article may be somewhat exaggerating the situation.

If I visited I think I'd only do so as part of a multi-centre eastern europe trip - on the basis that disappointment in one place may be mitigated by success in another!

I've been very disappointed before in the likes of Budapest where reports were grossly exaggerated and I found very little gay activity - about 4 bars containing precisely nothing of interest, and whilst there's plenty of fanny (the UK version) available on the streets I found no cock at all down at the river where it was alleged to be rampant.

The only place I've found worthwhile in that area of the world is Prague and having returned there 2 or 3 yrs ago I can say that whilst it is still well worth a visit, it is not even a SHADOW of what it was when I was a regular visitor in the 1990's

From his recommendations, it seems Firecat has some personal experience of Poland - I'd be very interested to hear it as the flight to Poland is but a short hop compared to Thailand. Whether such a discussion belongs here or needs to be moved is a matter for Surfy.

Not sure if you will be able to see this but it was more of a tourist post on my trip this year to Kracow with straight friends. However I was able to see 2 Hot Boys, 1 from Romeo and I believe the other was from Jackd. I did post 1 photo. Both were great and it is now high on my list to return. Just so cheap for great food , music , apartments etc.

You may have to register at Boytoy but there is no charge and you will be able to see the photos and the 1 Boy I posted a photo of.

Fourteen years ago I visited Prague and Budapest with two friends and had a great time a447. We found lots of sex in the saunas, nightclubs and sleazy bars. That was before I started paying for sex, so I donтАЩt know anything about the rent-boy scene. Out of the two cities we preferred Prague and planned to return the following year, but I became ill and had to cancel.

I doubt that anyplace in the world can compare to the ease, availability, professionalism, and value..... of the "industry" we know in Pattaya and Bangkok. Although it exists everywhere in the world, it's almost always hidden, secretive, unreliable, unsafe, overrated, and/or expensive..... and disappointing.... everywhere else in the world.

I'm not sure what I'll find there but I hope it's enough to report on. I'll be happy just to see the live sex shows in the Action Bar in Budapest and maybe have a bit of fun in the cruising area of the club. That's basically why I'm travelling all that way instead of going straight to Thailand.

As for Prague, last visit I went to Drakes every night but this time I'm going to try Escape Bar. I'm hoping to find enough rent-boys there to keep me occupied.

Last time I was there I walked in and there was some kind of semi-naked show going on which was worth watching (but no more than that.

When it ended, suddenly the lights totally went out (it was only for about 5 seconds but when you're not expecting it you're like WTF!).

When the light went back on about half a dozen completely naked twinks were running through the bar in among the customers!

Well the last time it was two (Dusseldorf ~October 2014 - and one had a 10in cock).

Previously it has been up to 9 (in BKK ~1999, but I don't count that as 9 - the boy I had brought with me & was sharing the room with took one for himself so it was really only 8 for me).
