Worthless and useless. The reality in Thailand is that so called senior "officers" parade around in over decorated uniforms full of self importance but the truth is, as the recent bombing shows, they are totally clueless.
With a few exceptions the only thing the police in Thailand are all good at is either falsifying or losing evidence etc and soliciting bribes et al.

That's one of the things I enjoy about this area I now live in. In the 8 months I've lived here, I think I've seen a police officer once, and he was just passing through on his motorbike.

Police aren't needed here. The mafia ensures the safety and security of the community. They actually own the pool hall just down the street.
