I'm going to Chiang Mai next week and was wondering whether the go-go bars there are still worth a visit? The last time I went to Adam's Apple it was boring and the boys looked like they had just been picked up from a construction site the same afternoon - very rough looking. The owner and his buddies were smoking at the back of the bar. Circle Pub no longer had those stunning boys they used to have. New My Way was so-so. Didn't go to Freeguy Club.

There was a special show tonight at Adam's.
I wouldn't say the show was very different than usual, but entertaining.
As for the boys, about 20/25, I could have offed them all.
But it's a question of taste.
Now this is Chiang Mai, and they are all Shan boys and masculine.
If you are hoping to find feminine or undernourished boys, as in Sunee, you are in the wrong city.
Free Guy now does karaoke.
There is much more fun to be had in bars like Orion or Ice, where there are always nice boys to keep
you company and eager to please.

Whenever the last time you went may have been, it's unlikely the go-go scene has gotten more exciting in CM. Gay life is as active as ever-- even if not in one's face in the commercial sense. Chiang Mai has never really competed in over the counter sex the way "party" cities or areas have. In the modern era most younger men appear to have evolved from wanting smartphones to having better ones than their punters.

Yes, it IS a question of taste. I'm aware that the go-go boys are mostly Shan/Tai-yai but they come in all shapes and sizes. Good-looking, not so good-looking, tall, short, dark, fair, etc etc. Circle used to have Shan boys who could have easily graced the cover of a porn magazine; Adam's seemed to attract more of the rough trade sort. New My Way was somewhere in between. I just wanted to know whether this has changed.

No, I'm not looking for skinny, fem or underage-looking boys, many of which you can see in the streets of Chiang Mai, not just in Sunee. Incidentally, Sunee draws a much wider variety of boys than you describe.

I know that very well. It's just that you don't find them in the CM gogos.
As said elsewhere, gay life in CM is everywhere but very little in the gogo bars.

Circle still has those same boys, except after they've been working in that bar for so many years, they would now struggle to grace the amateurs section of most porn magazines :D That said, Circle and New My Way basically provide masculine trophy boys for Thai gay queens; not much there for farangs.

Some find that "straight off the construction site", or even "straight out of jail", look quite appealing, if so Free Guy is the place to go ;) Plenty of rough boys and a raunchy show with no ladyboys (though with it being very low season the show might be a bit subdued if there are few customers). And don't get me wrong, some of those rough boys can be a lot more fun than the pretentious pretty boy types. Karaoke starts at 23:30 with cheaper drink prices and more boys arriving later.

CM has been quiet of late and there are more Shan boys wanting to work at Adams than the place can take so the quality has been improved the last few times I was there. But it varies from night to night, weekends are usually better as there are a few Thai customers to swell the numbers.

If you want to meet Thais one good place to go is Ozeed, the owner Jeep can be good company and might also show you around some of the late night clubs where the Thai gays go. :ymparty: I believe Orion now has some Laos boys too if you want something different.

I visited Chiang Mai in June this year and went to Adam's Apple (twice) and Orion Bar (several times). The former was very quiet with just a few customers but there were at least 20+ boys there on each occasion. The night starts with the boys mingling around on the stage with a bit of dancing - the show starts around 10.30. The nights I was there they had a couple of lady boy sync numbers and then a number of the boys performing and showing their attributes. I guess its the nature of the place but I felt comfortable and welcome and everyone seemed friendly. Boys were more than willingly to come off stage and share a drink. All very handsome to these eyes. Orion Bar is easily found in Kalare Market which is part of the night market - small bar with pool table - once again very friendly people there so I made my way back there several times

Hey guys, what's the current rate for gogo boys and bar fines in Chiang Mai? Is it similar to BKK's or Pattaya's? Thanks for your info. :-)
