@wim888. - just a quick clarification re the UK, when you say that the UK have ruled in favour of marriage equality what has actually happened is that three out of the four Countries which make up the UK have ruled in favour, those being England, Scotland and Wales.

However much to many people's continued shame here in Northern Ireland our devolved Government, which is controlled by the Christian fundeMENTAList DUP party of hard core right wing Christian ( very seldomly) right nutters have managed, four times now, to successfully block the change being enacted in this small part of the UK.

There are currently two high court cases literally just starting here now re the matter, where if we can't crack the nut by law change by choice then we hope to have a judge rule under European law that the Government can't continue to uphold their ridiculous and highly embarrassing position any longer and so fingers crossed that in a few months ( or years more likely :-( ) Northern Ireland will also be dragged, kicking and screaming into the 21st century, whether our prehistoric politicians here like it or not !!

But should the law appeal fail then I just intend to go out and start burning a few buses on the streets as that always seemed to work here in the past - or not !

I think that here in Canada, the circumstances are somewhat different. The change in attitudes came from the people of the land and the government followed based on the polls. Polling and by the fact we've elected many gay members has created that change from within. For us, gay marriage was yesterday's news and were well passed that and into the legalities of gay divorce, gay custody when children are involved and all the complexities of applying existing law with it's precedences for mothers and fathers.

For the longest time, we were ahead of the United States in terms of how liberal we think we are. This ruling for all States on gay marriage and the domino of States now legalizing marijuana sets the stage for the next Supreme Court ruling which will put the States ahead of us for the first time (although we're in a race towards that as well).

Interesting times in the USA.

Isn't Thailand renowned for being a "gay paradise"?

A little more detail on the situation in Northern Ireland as explained by Nirish guy above...

Be careful what you wish for. There's speculation that companies may withdraw benefits from couples who don't marry http://fortune.com/2015/06/26/same-sex- ... -marriage/ (http://fortune.com/2015/06/26/same-sex-benefits-marriage/)

Interesting. But according to this article's penultimate paragraph http://www.huffingtonpost.ca/angelina-c ... y%20Voices (http://www.huffingtonpost.ca/angelina-chapin/same-sex-marriage-canada_b_7732990.html?utm_hp_ref=gay-voices&ir=Gay%20Voices) only a third of Canadians supported the idea of gay marriage before it was legalised and so the change in attitudes actually followed government legislation.

I think that here in Canada, the circumstances are somewhat different. What interests me is the attitude of indigenous people. In Africa and Australia, for example, polygamy was widely practised by the original inhabitants. Although the missionaries attempted to stamp it out, it still persists in some places. Do the advocates of "marriage equality" propose extending their "equality" to these polygamous practices, or is "gay marriage" purely a white, middle-class obsession and not about "marriage equality" at all?

More Razer sharp criticism (http://dailyreview.crikey.com.au/razer-state-sanctioned-gay-marriage-is-defeat-by-assimilation/26487) of the nonsense that is "gay marriage"
