Recent visit to X-Boys Bar

I recently went with others to this bar. It is situated in Pattayaland and has shows every night starting at 10.00pm. The go go boys also "perform" in the show and the general type of boys are tattoed "rough trade" types with a few exceptions.
For a long time its the same show format, various uninspired dance and other routines. I guess due to the junta now the boys remain all night in their underwear(previously they revealed their manhood) and the 'sex act' part of the show is now simulated.
The show is tired, unimaginative and boring.
The B Boys dancers make a brief appearance, but the night I was there, they performed for barely 5 minutes and was nothing special.
We each ordered a glass of white wine and the charge was 300 baht per one. The wine tasted like the very cheapest cardboard box packed wine, and gave us all a headache.
I have no idea the "off" fee as nothing worth considering.
No wonder many people prefer taking guys from the likes of gay romeo.
There was around half a dozen customers in the bar plus a group of Asian female tourists sitting in the front row, smoking cigerettes , screaming and getting the attention of the straight boys(most of them) on the stage.
Before the show ended, we paid the bill and left.
I will not return, nor can I recommend the place. Quite the reverse: I would strongly suggest do not waste your time and money there.

It's a shame they are allowing tobacco smoking again. Shows have been hit and miss. Music can be ear shattering.
One farangs 'rough trade' is another's masculine guy. I agree the gogo boys in general are not very hot anymore.

I hate having bad luck. I started going to Thailand only since last year. Looks I started coming when the best period for gay Farang to go to Thailand is over.

I am in my early 40s. That is - I think - the time when gay Farang start on average going to Thailand for the gogo bars and beer bars. Because when I am there (I have been there now a few times) I am always the youngest. I never see a 25 or 30 year old Farang in a gogo bar.

What a bad luck I have. Reaching age 40 in a time when the best period for gay sex tourism to Thailand is over. I had it with the house market too. I got the age of buying a house when the prizes were highest.

Another question: why does X-boys not employ twinks? They must know that type is the most popular. They can't experiences many offs now. Why don't they hire twinks?

I agree with Goosood in bemoaning the lack of twinks in X--Boys and during my March trip I found this to be the situation in most of the Pattaya gay bars. I like many older gay sex tourists go to Pats to have sex with them and gravitate to GR when they are not found in the bars. In the gogo's twinks are usually offed quickly and you have to go early to get a nice one.

But as I understand, that shortage was not there 5 years ago? Or 10 years ago?

Your guys can confirm the apps are the reason if indeed the downfall of twinks in bars started as soon as the first dating apps came on the market. Grindr appeared in 2009.

Yes good point. That indeed can be another reason. But bad luck for me. I have missed the best times. Story of my life.

I read some go now to Cambodia and Laos. Is it there now how it was in Pattaya before 2009? Many twinks in the gogo bars in Cambodia/Laos? But of course the app problem also must play a role in these countries.

I offed one of their boys quite recently. In fact he's one of their cover boys, on all the posters. He didn't speak much English (when will I ever learn). When we got back to the hotel room he had a special electronic machine all ready to translate the long list of things he didn't do. It got me thinking and made me realise that actually my offs from there over the years have been hit and miss most of the time. Oliver raises a valid point. The older gay farang market is becoming less and less important.
The Asian customer is number one now in many bars. They don't nurse a glass of water for
hours, they buy boys drinks and off them as well. They spend money.
The most successful, busiest boy bars cater to Asian men and women.
Many older farangs just sit and ogle and don't tip. Of course, many older farangs buy alcoholic
drinks for themselves and boys, off and give generous tips. But many just take up space.
Lots of gay farangs think the Gogo boy bars are gay bars, but they aren't gay bars. They are boy bars. It's not all about us !

Do the Asian gay visitors have a different taste in the boys they like? Asians are not into twinks? If they are into twinks, and that market is so important for the bar owners, then where are the twinks?

I'm in your camp and have an aversion to skinny fem boys. In my estimation, at least two thirds of older farangs
like very skinny pretty boys, and an even higher percentage in Pattaya. Many like full blown ladyboys with long dyed hair
and boobs from ingesting female hormones. Lady boys on hormones can be a handful with severe mood changes.
Skinny twinks that look very young seem the most popular. It's weird, but some farangs like big cocked lady men to

It's true.. Many farang men who identify as straight, like ladyboys for sex.
Many 'straight' Thai boys have ladyboy boyfriends. The fem boys keep a g-string or pouch
on and orally service the straight boy and bottom. It's a third gender thing which
befuddles older farangs.

Masculine twinks or boy boys are yet another variation. There are gay kings too.
Something for everyone and every taste in Pattaya.

You have (possibly) answered one of the questions that I've meant to ask for years; why do the bottoms in the fuck-shows wear pouches? I used to surmise that it was out of embarrassment as to the size of their members relative to the tops.... but your comment seems much more credible.
As you suggest, even after nearly twenty years of frequent visits, this is an area of Thai life which will forever be mysterious to me.
