Earthquake in Nepal

Apart from the loss of life, the most devastating impact of the huge Nepal earthquake has been on its irreplaceable historic sites. Durbar Square in the centre of Kathmandu is apparently in rubble. The Durbar Squares in nearby Bhaktapur and Patan are also several damaged. I visited twice in 1980 and 2009 and marvelled at all three cities. No one will know if and when the old parts will be reconstructed. Here are a few photos of how they looked before the devastation.
