Often wondered how much the go-go boys of Sunee make each evening ? With few customers, it seems that most boys don`t even get a drink all night, let alone an off ...(At least in low season)
Do they get a wage from the bar, for just being there ?

It varies obviously. Popular boys will make more money than the less popular ones. Some are on a salary while others are on commission only depending (I believe) on what time they choose to start/finish work. Average salary for a gogo boy is about 3000 baht a month. It goes without saying that all earnings are doubled when NIrish moseys into town.

From what I know, about 100 to 1000 Baht depending if they get an "off". I always try to pass out 20s or 40s to a few boys just so they have some food money.

I would absolutely refute that, as whilst work load and time spent "on the job" may SLIGHTLY increase for some boys ( alas I'm just not the man I once was and my best days are behind me I fear :-( lol ) I see no reason why that guys earnings should change "pro rata" based on the number of fucks given per session versus the actual number of off's undertaken per se as of course the canny farang will try to squeeze the maximum number of fucks into each off anyway I trust otherwise we're just facilitating the urge for Thai boys to remain lazy - I see my working them harder as just another way of instilling a good work ethic in their cute wee minds !

I sat in a bar opposite one go go bar in Patong Beach one night in January and wondered how the bar had about 14 boys working there when I saw very few customers. I soon found out the answer from an ex 'employee' I met. They get no salary and rely on any off fees. One man had worked there for many weeks and never had an off, only a few tips. They work about an 8 hour shift.

Depends on the bar. Some pay no wage at all, whereas others for example, pay 100 baht/day. That's technically illegal considering minimum wage here is 300 baht/day, but their profession is illegal too, so what the hell. But with the 100 baht/day comes various restrictions usually, such as if you're late or miss a day, 100 - 300 baht is deducted, and so on.

Then you have bars that will pay for lodging and meals, but others won't. Generally, "lodging" consists of 15 guys sleeping in a small room upstairs the bar together, and "meals" consist of 20 baht plates of food once a night.

But I can confirm that anything I know I learnt from a certain farang who NO MATTER when I see him has no less than half a dozen or MORE Thai guys in his company and even then STILL sometimes needs to "disappear" for a "short time" to take care of some "pressing business" elsewhere :-) Like I said, me, I'm only a mere amateur compared to SOME people I know ! lol

Just came back from Thailand a first visit since 2008 I was in shock to found out how weak were business in the boys bars in BKK/Soi Twilight , Pattaya and Phuket / Patong compared to years ago only the popular bars had customers , in the others had very few or none at all .one of the workers in Patong think that the social web networks are killing the business.
I think that this days it is very hard for boy to make a living in a bar compared to the past .

I estimate boys get offed on average 1 to 2 times per week.

Let's say 5 offs per months (5000 Baht) plus 3000 wage (depending on bar), that's 8000 Baht, in addition free food and lodging (or not, depending on bar), better than working on the farm! Every now and then a new mobile phone bought by a customer (or not, depending on customer).

Really only that few times? I think the most popular boys (and in my experience that are skinny, young looking, twinks) can easily be offed every day in high season.

But I agree from some boys I also wonder if they are ever being offed. I see them each time I visit Pattaya, and I have never seen someone off them. So I think some boys maybe only once every couple of weeks. I wonder why they don't seek another 'job'. Because most regular jobs easily earn you 8000 baht a month.

There's a wide disparity. The least popular live on 2000-3000 baht per month or less. At the other end of the scale boys outshine senior public servants during their hay-days in terms of income. One boy I know in BT gets offed EVERY night he turns up and sometimes twice or three times-he takes home more than 30,000 baht per month and his mother thinks he's a restaurant waiter in Jomtien!
But even the worst cases are better off than the 250 baht - per - day Cambodians being delivered in open trucks like cattle for an 8 hour shift on the construction sites.

I mean the Cambodian construction workers, male and female, in Thailand.

Your friend in Cambodia did better than mine-his salary was $100 per week in a tourist hotel.
After 4 years it was raised to $120!

It must depend on how attractive they are and what the season is.

Some get more than one off per night in peak season. I've seen them leave the bar for an off and return within 40 minutes.
A small minority ask for fees which are considered well above the going rate, but still get offs, as they are very attractive.

I would think monthly earnings would vary from 10,000 to 800,000, the latter figure being for a handful of the top earners in Pattaya during the peak season only. At the other end of the scale are those who just don't learn how to get offed and maximise their income.

I'm guessing that Gogi added, by mistake, one more zero on that 800,000 bht figure than was necessary. Even at 80,000 that would put any gogo boy squarely in the Thai middle class ... which would be rare. But ten times that? I don't think so . . . next to impossible.

However, there may just be a circumstance under which it might come close: that is if the boy was doing gogo and having ~ at the same time ~ a large gaggle of (unbelievably foolish) farang on the hook ~ ideally, blissfully, located safely in their home countries ~ and he, the gogo boy, juggling the lot of 'em ***, and receiving outrageously large monthly stipends. Well-deserved one cannot deny.
I would not doubt that Kommintern is one of those hooked.

I know a very handsome Hua Hin guy ~ possessing an extremely sweet and sincere personality ~ who does just that, and has for quite long time. And he makes nowhere near Gogi's figure of 800,000 bht.

800,000 is a very high salary indeed in Thailand, earned by very few. (Not counting the Monied Class of course.)

Nothing dubious about MY figure. I said he gets offed every night HE TURNS UP. At this point he's very casual about turning up. Knowing him pretty well by now I estimate his monthly income to be about 30000 baht. By thai standards generally this is pretty impressive.

For the 80,000 baht figure I was thinking of the very cute boys who manage to get offed a couple of times a night and are also fairly forward at sniffing out above average tips. For example, there was one sweetie in Toy boys who wanted 2000 short time and 3000 long time. From what I saw, he was getting offed every night at peak season, often with Asian visitors.
A select few manage to get offed twice a night in peak season, so if they get 1200 short time and 1700 long time, their upper earnings limit is going to be around 80,000 baht. As I said earlier, only a handful of boys in Pattaya would have that kind of earnings potential & this is my peak season figure.

The vast majority don't get offed every night, never mind twice. I suppose 20 x 1500 amounts to 30,000 baht & might be nearer to average earnings.

The average amuont od 30,000 BHT may be correct but only for the high season at the rest of the year it drops substantially.Some of the boys have long term clients that
send them money from time to time and escort them once they come to Thailand .
