It would be great if it can hang on for a few years until the baby boomers start to geezerize in greater numbers, and then realize how broke they are. The current estimate is an individual needs at least a US million to retire in the US, and only a very small percentage have it!

The forum is very slow now, but should grow over time. Currently number one in Yahoo for 'American retire abroad' and #2 for 'retire abroad Ecuador'. So get in very early and you can tell your friends you did!

I was amused to read in the section on Malaysia that Moslem women "cover their face". This statement is made at least twice. I can't remember, in all my time in Malaysia, both in KL and elsewhere, seeing Moslem women with their face covered. Head, yes

If the author can't get facts like that correct, you have to wonder whether he has ever been there and therefore to what extent his writings are accurate in other areas

That's true, a technical error indeed. Should say HEAD covering, not face covering. Anyway, it is a forum site with a small info portal about American-specific issues as a base. For more general information on retirement abroad, a great place to start is escapeartist.com
