This may be a topic too delicate to answer int the regular forum manner so I have decided to cast it in the nature of a poll. The question is do you fart more as you grow older?

I have never farted in my life. Ask anyone.
I feel mighty uncomfortable even writing the word 'fart', much less actually farting.

What is the point to this asinine poll? (Ass-inine, get it?)
Please spell-check poll questions (it's easier than farting any old day) ... 'feebel'??

As you get older, you fart more, pee more, in fact your body does more of everything it shouldn't do and less of everything it should do. And you spend more time on the internet researching the reasons why nothing works the way it used to. Even the normal dosage of Viagra......oh well, you get my point.

I voted no.

The key to avoiding flatulence is to have regular and consistent bowel movements, preferably in the morning before a shower. You can influence how your gastro intestinal tract functions by managing what you eat and drink. It's cheap and easy to find a healthy serving of fruit each day in Thailand and substituting fruit for a desert at bedtime will not only help the waistline, but will really clean you out good in the morning. That, excersise and drinking plenty of water throughout the day. The older we get, the harder we have to work at maintaining our quality of life.

Ten facts you may not know about farts and farting http://www.oddee.com/item_98612.aspx

I was particularly taken, in light of Surfcrest's response, with the comment "The average person produces about half a liter of farts every single day, and even though many women won't admit it, women do fart just as often as men". I think this will have to be amended to read "The average person produces about half a liter of farts every single day, and even though many women and Surfcrest won't admit it, women and Surfcrest do fart just as often as men".

The topic of Old Farts was not discussed; perhaps Gaybutton will be able to speak from the depths of his personal experience as an Old Fart.

The question was; Do you fart more as you grow older.

I grew up on a dairy farm and I've always been lactose intolerant...lol.

I'm not saying I don't squeeze out my quota, I'm just saying I've got a little control over the whole process with diet.

There's nothing romantic about farts...Happy Valentine's Day!

I always thought the The Royal Family never farted.

You are skating on thin ice with that comment, given the L├иse-majest├й laws.

Please clarify which Family you were referring to. Was it the Belgians?

What you say is generally correct.
However, whilst eating healthily enough to generate regular bowel movements is a good principle, it's not going to prevent flatulence for everyone.

In some cases, people might react badly to some food and have multiple daily bowel movements for months afterwards and still have flatulence issues.
The balance of bacteria in the body and all the side effects does not seem to be well understood.

I'm told farting is an occupational hazard among flight attendants, for whom it is a natural response due to air pressure changes in aircraft cabins. I know I fart more when undertaking a long aeroplane flight.

I always thought the The Royal Family never farted.

Even if they don't fart themselves, the royals certainly recognise a fart when they detect one.

As John Aubrey (1626-1697) recounts of the Earl of Oxford and Queen Elizabeth I in his "Brief Lives":

This Earle of Oxford, making of his low obeisance to Queen Elizabeth, happened to let a Fart, at which he was so abashed and ashamed that he went to Travell, 7 yeares. On his returne the Queen welcomed him home, and sayd, My Lord, I had forgott the Fart.

On a similar note, Queen Elizabeth II was in her carriage during a state visit of a foreign leader en route to Buckingham Palace. One of the horses let out a very loud fart, for which the Queen apologised. The foreign dignitary replied: "No need to be sorry, your Majesty, I thought it was the horse". :))

I farted four times since this topic started. However the op wants to know increase or decrease over time, that's a question I can't answer after such short span of time. In addition to my spendings, I will record my farts and report back in a year.

See Christian the scary thing is that that would have been a very funny line from you above - except coming from you I have this niggling worry that you just might have been serious, but I guess we'll know in a years time either way !?:-)

I farted three more times since my last post on this topic. This increase is alarming.
