View Full Version : Topman Go Go & Cabaret Bar

June 22nd, 2006, 12:23
This is to confirm speculation about the sale of Topman, Sunee Plaza.
Michael has now retired and sold the business to Googie (Googies Restaurant) and Dave (Butterfly Karaoke Dance Bar ) both situated in Soi Day-Night One. This is from 22nd June.
We will be making some changes, we hope for the better, slowly over the next few weeks.
One thing that will come into effect straight away is new reduced prices.
We want our customers to help with new idea's and changes that can be done. So please feel free to give us your reasonable suggestions, our ears are open.
We hope to see you at Topman soon.
Dave & Googie.

Congratulations! I can't think of a better qualified or more friendly team to do the job! No doubt the new Top Man will quickly become the toast of Pattaya!

Well done!

Fondly,
Chris

Hi Dave and Googie, your bar now congratulations.
It will remain my favourte in Sunnee plaza.

However do not adopt any drastic changes.

If it becomes non smoking you will loose about 15000 baht from me alone on each of my visits.

All the best, see you in December.

I also recommend that the ventilation system be vastly upgraded. My Thai friend has not liked going there because of the heavy smell of cigarette smoke.

Knowing Googie, I am sure the bar will be vastly improved.

One of the things that I have enjoyed at Throb is that the routine changes as the night goes on. You have go-go, a water show, and then a dance show. I would like to see a variety at Topman. Not the same as Throb necessarily but some type of variety so it is not just like most of the other go-go bars.

Another suggestion, if possible, maybe some good non-alcohol drinks for those of us that don't enjoy alcohol. Something other than soda, like fresh lime aide.

I find quite the opposite to be true at Splash / Throb.
I find vary little variation / variety in the show with each visit and spanning years.
Is the chicken dance not still part of the Thob routine, night after night?
The show at the Wild Wild West bar changes up more so you can actually go back a second / third time and see a different show if you aren't going for a particular boy.
Of course, Bangkok is where you should be spending time if you are into shows not Pattaya.

Out of interest, walked around the corner to Krazy Dragon and as before, it was packed with boys, around 50, and also a fair few customers. And that same bloody boy as before came over uninvited, put his arm around me and again dived straight onto my cock with his hand. I grabbed his hand and looked him in the eye and said "NO". He got the message this time much quicker, repeated "no", looked hurt and off he went leaving me alone for the rest of my time there, thank god!I see you wouldn't enjoy Nature Boy in Bangkok then, John. The customers are the show. Mind you, one night I tried to off one of the other (Thai) customers - a friend of the owner

Totally agree Surfcrest. I must say that whilst I do find the Throb show very well done and I find it one of the best because of it's comedic elements, after several visits, perhaps ten's of visits, the show is incredibly repetitive. There seem to be three variations on the show, one includes the chicken dance (moving amongst the audience rubbing crotches in punters faces wearing a chicken costume), one is the dog routine doing the same thing as the chickens to a Rolf Harris number in a dog suit and the final one is the Jungle Book dance (two boys in thongs and a guy in a Gorilla outfit doing the same thing). Very amusing and entertaining and gets squeals and howls of laughter from newcomers. The guy who does Tina Turner is very talented and does two songs as Tina and on the third variation does Michael Jackson's 'Billie Jean' (not as Tina Turner, although that would be an innovation). The return of the fat ladyboy/transvestite/transexual I believed name Marcia (or somesuch) didn't mean a change in routines, it just meant the other fat l/t/t got less to do. The worst parts are when the boys come on to dance without the fat girls, a couple of them look totally disinterested in yet another routine to S-Club-7's 'Boogey Woogey Beat' (or whatever) with one great lummox refusing to ever smile. Of course, every boy routine ends in trouser ripping and I will never tire of the perfect buns of the blonde boy who came third in the recent Rear of The Year show at Throb.

However, it is easy to criticise and very hard to be inventive. I guess the target audience is not the long stay guys or expats who live in Pattaya, but the tourists here for a week or so or the now growing masses of straight coach tours. If you have a good show that is entertaining, why change it. However, doing the same show for over a year can even make the performers stale and puts off long stayers coming in to see the same show with drink prices which can be bettered elsewhere.

I am a fan of Wild West, which focuses more on the erotic rather than spectacular dance, but even now I find this show to be a little repetitive. The candle dance, the oil dance, the net curtain dance, the soap show, the shower show and the guy who lays eggs. I do encourage people to go to Wild West but I hope the bar does not rely on the 'standards' and are innovative with more and more daring routines. More guys ripping the undies off other guys (much to their embarrassment) is strangely entertaining.

I agree most are too repetitive. Theres still a few exceptions but the names escape me as im usually half pissed before i go to them.

In bangkok the chak wow for 200 baht race is quite amusing.... and the big cock show can be quite fun - watching first timers sit at the front get a face slapped with a king size or have it dipped in their drink!

HI ALL,
I AM PLEASED TO HEAR THAT TOPMAN HAS GOT NEW OWNERS IT DOES SEEM TO HAVE BEEN LIVING ON IT'S REPUTATION FOR QUITE SOME TIME. THE DAYS OF EMMA AND HER SIDE KICK ARE NOW A MEMORY FOR MANY OF US. I WAS TOLD BY MANY OF THE STAFF THAT THE AIR CONDITIONING WAS OFF BECAUSE IT WAS TOO EXPENSIVE. I DO HOPE MICHAEL HAS MADE A WISE MOVE MOVING BACK TO THE UK HE WILL FIND A HUGE DIFERENCE , I WISH HIM THE BEST OF LUCK FOR THE FUTURE AND THANK HIM FOR ALL THE YEARS OF BOTH THE COCKPIT AND TOPMAN.I HAVE ONE QUSTION FOR THE NEW OWNERS HAVE YOU KEPT ALL THE STAFF?,ONE WHO I HAVE CONTACT WITH IS VERY WORRIED HE WILL LOSE HIS JOB. WELL DONE ON THE NEW PRICE DRINKS POLICY AND FOOD WOULD BE A WELCOMED EDITION AS WOULD BETTER SEATING. THE CABERET HAS BEEN DONE TO DEATH AND SOME OF THE DANCES LOOK LIKE THEY HAVE NO INTREST IN THE PLACE,AND LOOK A BIT ROBOTIC. I WISH YOU GOOD LUCK AND LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING THE PLACE ON MY NEXT VISIT.

Couldnt agree more with the comments about Throb/Splash. It used to be the in place. Great shows, great boys great company. But since last year everythings changed. The show is always the same, the boys are mostley lady boys.

I guess this is the real reason for it being sold. Have seen the owner many evenings at Sunny, smoking and drinking heavy. Doesnt look too ill to me.

As i have posted else where, i hope the new owners make big changes.

I THINK YOU MISS UNDERSTOOD MY ORIGINAL QUERIE DEARIE. IT WAS A SIMPLE REQUEST "ARE THE SAME STAFF STILL AT TOPMAN?".SIMPLE ENOUGH WITH OUT THE ABUSE YOU SEEM TO LIVE ON. I AM UNABLE TO REPLY INSTANTLEY BECAUSE I HAVE A LIFE. YOUR ATTITUDE MATCHES YOUR NAME A LONELY WOMBAT I AM NOT SURPRISED. MY CONCERN WAS THAT ONE OF THE BOYS MAY BE IN SOME TROUBLE PAYING HIS BILLS AND WOULD NEED HELP.HE WOULD NOT ASK AND HIS WELFARE IS MY MAIN WORRY.WHEN A SIMPLE QUESTION IS ASKED I DO NOT NEED A REPLY FROM SOMEOME WHO HAS NO KNOWLEDGE OF WHAT I NEED TO KNOW. SO WHILE YOU GO AND THINK OF A REPLY I AM OFF TO NEW YORK FOR THE WEEK SO THAT WILL GIVE YOU TIME TO GET THE BOOK OF ACID DROPS ( K WILLIAMS) OUT FOR REFERENCE.

Oh the jet setting queen who demands attention in capitals. Everyone drop what you are doing and jump to the bidding of
this person.

But surely it is too early for anyone to know for sure, what staff are remaining and who will choose to leave.

Have the new owners taken possession?

As a jet setter who is so concerned about your boy, do you really think your abusive
posts will get you a reply. get one of your minions to fly in your private jet from New York to sort your problem out

As you have no manners and no net etiquette(capitals really) why should anyone care, or answer.

I thought I would fill you in about why I had to use higher case the last time I replied. I have what is called a primary screen this helps me to see small text from my lap top. I have to use this screen after having a small tumour removed from my optic nerve my sight is now improving and I am told will get better in time. I am now back with my computer at home with the P monitor, this enables me to use the computer of my choice.
If you think I am rude that is up to you ,but my ex wife thinks I am not but or does my husband of 9 months. If you call working for a company that requires me to attend conferences in the usa and other countries then yes I must be a jet setter.I have never had a personal plane and all my staff are aware that if they need help I am there for them at any time day or night.you really have got me totally wrong.
I can only wish you everything you wish others.

Love it!!! :geek: :geek:

I for one will miss Michaels repartee, friendhship and the ambience of the boys and show dancers and I wish him well in that which he decides to do from this time, not forgetting all the hard work he and his colleagues did on behalf of the Pattaya Gay Festival. Thank you Michael.

I am wondering what 'Mr. Mekhong' will make of the new place, he having attended over 1,000 shows I believe. He is undergoing specialist psychiatric treatment as I write and when I chatted with him over the internet a few weeks ago he did comment that when the treatment is finished he at least will have a Certificate to prove he is 'SANE', how many of the rest of you can confirm that? Only joking....or am I? L.

Hit me again, dealer!
But I drink beer--From the bottle. If anyone can stick it in that... I'll marry him! Providing he can unstick it without spilling my damn beer.

... get in the real world the young guys of today who are shortening all words so much its like another language
Im convinced all this crap about how anyone writes, instead of reading it and working out what's being, said tells you much more about the guyz complaining then the writer, for what ever reason he chooses to write, with, say, spelling mistakes, or large caps, or abbreviated script.

One hundred years ago Andrew Carnagie, who owned more than 100 newspapers, and others, such as Chicago Tribune owner Col. Robert McCormic participated in the creation of Simplified Spelling. Theodore Roosevelt tried to force the government to use it:

You may finf the history interesting.
Some of the words have replaced the old standard. Write, doughnut, and see how many rush to correct you: "It's donut! for chrisake you big-dumb-shit!"

English is a living language, therefore, It evolves--Words and punctuation: use of the colon and semi colon is practically nil as are(I'm the Prince of) parentheses...Earl of...ellipsis--And Queen of the--Dash! Ten years ago would anyone have said, "Google it," or, "Text me." The use of, awesome, as the superlative of choice seems to be (Finally!) dead and replaced, perhaps, by, 'phenomenal,' but like a blast from the past, "Cool," is fast (re)gaining favor.

However much one may rail against it, like holding back a tsunami; there's no stopping it. Short of speaking a dead, no longer evolving language...if one can. (Look up old classmates in your high school Latin Club? Try to restart the old club. That should be a real joy!)

BTW: Like it or not; colloquialisms are correct. Differences; as in English spoken in England v America or London v Cornwall, can be classed as colloquialisms. Correcting their use is rude and shows one's ignorance. Well, we all know how far that goes on message boards....
I have recently called attention to (Hitherto unheard of?) words used here. Not to ridicule but because I thought those words were--And said so...and meant it--cool!

Post on, LMTU et al! Anyone who reads this stuff is a ting-tong, ding-dong, nuts, bonkers, daft, demented, insane, crazy, touched, teched, coo-coo, baba-bobo, gaagoo, lala, wiggy, wigged-out, mental, gone, crackers, masuganah, or blau, anyway!...Like me--But we have fun.
