I arrived in Bangkok yesterday afternoon. As was the case back in October, I walked straight through Immigration and was out of the airport in less than 30 minutes. I was under the impression that tourist numbers had been increasing lately, but that does not seem to be the case.

Some bars I pass without a second look simply because they have little to no curb-appeal. I will admit that I find it disappointing when a favored bar fails to meet expectations but as a visitor on holiday, it give me a chance to explore new bars for opportunities of enjoyment.

I guess once you have lived in the middle of the party for weeks on end to the point that it seems like you are stuck in the movie "Ground Hog Day", the bloom quickly fades from the rose. Now it can tick you off when a bar changes and no-longer appeals to you.

As far as the guys that work in bars.... I could go to a bar that is full of guys that I like and you may stick your head in the door and decide that the group is not to your taste and keep walking. Just remember that the guys move around. The guys I first met working at Throbb are now at other bars and for that I only look at bars as walls with a floor and ceiling. I tend to choose the bars based on my mood, what type of guys happen to be there that night, what type of fun the establishment offers and if they are going to lean heavy on my baht.
