German on jomtien

chatted with an older German on the gay beach, he has been coming to Pattaya for the last 20 years, was complaining how expensive the " boys" have become.
His calculation is;
drink for him in the bar--> 140
drink for mamasan--> 140
off fee --> 400
money boy fee --> 1500

I tried to explain to him that there were more cost effective solutions...but he seemed unconvinced...???
Can anyone explain this way of thinking??

Germans have a reputation for being Cheap Charlie's, despite their country being affluent. He was perhaps only on a modest pension.

I did explain how i pick up boys on the beach...street...gay romeo...but at his age, he was I guess very late 60's he probably wasnt willing to go outside his comfort zone. But what really struck me was how he felt obliged to buy the hideous (they r all hideous) mamasan a drink too.......

Travellordave...in my experience Germans are careful with their money...Dutch and Scots are simply mean...but Germans will spend when they believe they are getting value for money...and if I was in my 70's looking like something out of harry potter movie then 2000 bht to enjoy a 20 something Thai " boy" is a bargain.

should have been clearer, he wasnt paying that amount 20 years ago, thats what he pays now, but he has been coming to Pattaya for 20 years...hence my surprise that he hadnt cottoned on to the fact that cheaper options are available.
