One of the rare occasions where I am at the right place at the right time happened last Saturday (09.08.2014, Pattaya Beach Road near Boyztown, around 5 pm), where a promotion for Max Muay Thai was held. Upcoming fights are 17. and 24. August 20:30-22:30 (Boxing stadium near Mini Siam as far as I understood), and entry is free for Thai (р╕Др╕Щр╣Др╕Чр╕вр╕Кр╕б р╕Яр╕гр╕╡). (My interest in Muay Tai is solely for shirtless athletic bodies, not in the sport itself.)

and entry is free for Thai

But not for Farang. A rip off at 1200 - 1500 Bt which is why I stopped going.

Thanks for the albeit mostly rear views. I wonder if these Kon Thai are free or would they be too preoccupied with their sport to bother getting to grips with people like me? I have a friend who specialised in the boxers of Walking Street and they were surprisingly "up for" bouts outside the ring with him.

Hasn't NIrish some experience with the Muay Thai of Walking Street? Or was that ladyboys?

On a serious note it's reported that the ancient sport of muay thai is in trouble. Fewer guys are taking up the sport as the old customs and traditions are dismantled.
It seems to me that the basic cause is westernisation. Foreign sports media took an interest in the sport and now a hybrid money-driven version has returned to challenge muay thai on its home turf.
Along with that western gender equality has caused the all male stables to be invaded by scrawny wanna be female "boxers" from America, Aus and the other Amazonite states. Next they'll wanna be in the big cock shows.

I can vouch for that too! One is even on Gay Romeo.

I also love to watch the Muay Thai boxing shows, as much for the lean muscular physiques as the sport!
Used to like the place on Beach road but it changed to just a market a few years ago, so now often go to the larger bar place with the boxing on Walking Street, I have often jumped in to the ring and had my picture taken with a boxer and a Thai friend of mine once ended up boxing with a Russian in the same place - pretty scary!
Has anyone any experience of actual "offing" any of these young boxers to mess about back at your hotel?

Yes.

There was one I liked and I paid 2500 Bt for. I know, too much, but then you escape bar fines, drinks etc. So the same almost.

Well worth it.

As the earlier poster said they are up for it...just tip well, as they come around after the fights, (100 Bt ) and they will get the hint!

Thanks Egel
Was this at the first bar just as you enter walking street and how long ago?
I have been there many times but always with a boy from one of the bars, sounds like it might well be worth a visit on my own when I return in November!

Haven't been down that side of town for a long time-are you sure that bar is still open?
With my friend the drill used to be as follows: hang out among the boxers, give the winner 100 baht, buy a few beers for all at the end. No embarrassment among the boys about sitting with and going off short-time with my farang friend.

Yes Paulfort, the first bar just before the beginning of Walking Street on the Beach side of the Road. It is also the entrance to the Pattaya Beer Garden. Last there 3 weeks ago and definately open. The one that closed was about 500 metres along Beach Road away from Walking Street.
The other Boxing Bar in Walking Street (about 1/2 way along) is not so good.
