I took a few of the boys from "Good Boys" to Samae Beach on Koh Larn today. Gorgeous afternoon and fun in the sun...

Arriving at the beach. This ferry goes straight to Samae Beach on the far side of the island for 150 baht round trip.
No need for a baht bus or motocy, much nicer beach and far less crowded.

The beach is really nice and not crowded. Lots of food but couldn't see any rooms for rent nearby.

A nice change of pace from the beaches in Pattaya and Jomtien.
Had dinner at a seafood place on walking street when we got back. Nice day - gorgeous weather - and fun guys to hang out with for the afternoon. B-)

What did you think about the sea water there? I wouldn't dip my toe in at Pattaya or Jomtien, but does the water surrounding the island appear relatively clean? Dippable?

Yea totally different. I've never been in the water in Jomtien because there's literally floating garbage everywhere and you can't see the bottom in six inches of water.
The beaches on Koh Larn are much more like the islands in the south. The ferry anchors a way off from the pier and the taxi people on a smaller boat to the island
and you can see schools of fish in 10 feet of water and the rocks and coral on the bottom - green/blue water like in postcards ;)

Great post and pictures. Looks like a great idea. It would be great to play around in some clean beach water.

Though not sure I could get the "boys" I am used to hanging out with awake early enough for this. Maybe if the curfew is still going on...(what a horrible thought that is)...then we can give it a try.

haha anonone I told the boys 10 am thinking they'd be late so I showed up at the pier at exactly 10 and they were already there waiting for me.
We caught the 11 o'clock ferry and came back at 5:30. Plenty of time to swim and have a few drinks, find some lunch and look around the island a bit.
They were super excited about going and had a blast.

On a previous trip we rented motorbikes and rode up to the Buddha at the top of the hill. Great views! There are 6 beaches and a fair sized town
with rooms for rent, souvenir shopping and a few bars.

Have to admit i have never considered going in there sinc eit became a "beer bar"
But i would be very temped to go in to meet the guy in the cut off denims... especialy when he takes off his sunglasses!

Thanks for sharing this event with us.
It is definitely something that I would like to do the next time that I would go to Pattaya.

now time for a "dumb question" - do you just go up to the boys that you like in Good Boys and ask them if they want to go to Koh Larn? Is it that easy? or is it an expensive proposition? Don't mind paying - I just want to be prepared from your experience...

Colmx, I've known those guys for a couple of years. They call me up all the time when they want to go to the cinema or to
get some lunch or something during the day. The one with the denim shorts is "M". He's a lot of fun. Really funny guy.

When we go hang out during the day they've never asked for a tip -- I just pay for whatever the
activity is.

I would say if you ask the guy while at the bar, you should probably pay an off fee to the bar. One
of the guys at that bar, "Mee" actually asked me if I would take him, so then I invited the other two.

Koh Larn is not that expensive. Food and drinks cost more than Jomtien but still reasonable.
The normal ferry to the main town on Koh Larn is only 30 baht each way. I gave the guys a couple
hundred baht but they didn't even expect that. ( I should add there was no sex this trip - just the beach trip)

I would say get to know a couple of guys - maybe off them once or twice - then arrange a trip like
that during the day when they're not at work.

Another thought...
after we got to the beach and were kicked back relaxing, drinking beers after lunch on the beach,
I was joking with the guys and said, "OK let's stay here and not go back to Pattaya tonite."
You should have seen their faces! They got excited thinking they wouldn't have to go to work and
could just stay and relax all day and the next day. It would have been a fun idea if I'd planned it
but I had to get back. I told the guys I was only joking but next time we can stay.

There are some guesthouses on the other side of the island from where we were that are pretty
cheap. They don't often advertise online so you have to look around. Or if you want to pay more
you can find plenty of rooms for rent online. It would be a fun easy overnight trip. You'd need
to pay off fees and tip accordingly of course.

I only recognize M, who is obviously stunningly handsome. I didn't see him working when there in January. I've seen him during the day with another Goodboy unloading vehicles as another job. The mamasaan always charged me 400 baht to off them.

Thanks Rocket, the camera is a little Sony Cyber-shot TX30 (DSC-TX30/B) - a little digital camera smaller than my phone. Great for the beach because it's waterproof and sand can't hurt it.

M and Mee were both in Chonburi working for a few months. The mamasan is in her hometown in Khon Kaen or somewhere for a couple of weeks now
so the boys are running the show themselves I think. She likes to charge more for her "manager" or "bartender" boys. I just look at her funny and ask
about the bill when I get it and she finally gives in and smiles and says, "OK for you speacial price."

This is the crucial point. I have largely given up taking boys with me for sightseeing or entertainment, after several bad experiences (late for appointment or no show at all, or not interested, too hot, too sunny, boring, leg hurt from walking ...).

Now I am wary and invite friends only if I am sure they will like it or they tell me where they would like to go. I still have no way to find out in writing if a boy would like to go to a place (I invited one boy to Nakhorn Pathom - no show, another one to Wat Phra Thammakay - no show).

yep christian, i agree. i just let them invite me then i joke and ask them how much they want to tip me.
a couple of the guys texted me tonite and asked if i want to meet them to see Spider Man tomorrow.
of course that means i'm the designated ATM but that's to be expected so no pomplem. :D

if i was on holiday and didn't know too many guys, i would meet them online or at the bars or discos and
see about an off for "long time" and see how it goes for an overnighter -- then if everything goes well and
you want to take a trip or an excursion/day trip etc, then at least you know what you're getting yourself
into and so do they. give them a chance to say no away from the mamasan. i've taken guys to Cambodia
and longer trips within Thailand but always with guys i've known at least long enough to become friends.

Yeah it looks like a fun outing. It's the type of experience I would like to have myself but I am too much of a penny pincher to try it. Maybe this coming trip I will skip one night of hopping from bar to bar to bar to bar to bar and just off a couple of guys and do something fun.

That is what I like about the posts where people talk about their trip, it reminds me of what is possible and that it can be done successfully and happily.
