It's probably been highlighted here before, many times, but I do recommend a trip to The Sanctuary of Truth to anyone visiting Pattaya. It's just a short 15/20 minute max drive from South Pattaya and you get access to a modern day take (building started in 1981) on ancient art and design. The central structure is made entirely of wood with carvings throughout of gods and goddesses from different cultures. You not only spend as long as you want wandering around, taking in the beauty of the place, but you also get to see the craftsmen and women working hard on producing new additions to the structure. It really is a beautiful place and the feeling of serenity (at least when there are no coach parties) is amazing and I came away feeling totally relaxed, not always a truism when sightseeing.

Included in the entry price is a dolphin show which was fun and entertaining and some thai dancing and music with food and drinks purchased separately. Total cost baht500.

For additional baht you can also ride a horse around the site, take a speed boat ride or seat yourself for a small trip in a horse drawn buggy.

I don't have pic's right now but will post some when I can, unless someone else here has pic's already posted.

Great place. Last month I took a couple of friends there. They loved it. I could not get them to leave, they just kept snapping shots with their phones. I am told many good spirits there.

The entire temple is carved from wood. Outstanding location next to the sea. English speaking guides available. Seems like restoration is constant and you can view and talk to the folks doing the restoration.

We took lunch there. A small music troupe played Issan music and fun was had by all.

Absolutely worth the visit (entance fee is a tad steep), unfortunately an entire roll of film I shot there became exposed when I stupidly opened the camera (thinking it was bloody empty .... no more of THAT shit now that I have this sweet little digital).

But I recalled an Exotic Productions porno video ( yet another one! ) which had a snap of the Sanctuary of Truth as it's backdrop ( TiT).
Anybody know the Thai guy?

I understand the Sanctuary is sacred and all that ... but then, so is Exotic Productions :blackeye: :blackeye: :blackeye:

Here's 2 of the 3 shots I salvaged of our trip to the Sanctuary . . . taken on the roll before The Deluge.

They're a bit washed out, but the first one gives some idea of the incredibly detailed wooden carvings which adorn every square inch of this huge temple.

very good day out........... did the speedboat trip as well. You can swim with the dolphins if you want to.

BEWARE - get ready to cover your camera.......... sometimes during a show the dolphins shoot jets of water over the audience. I had one camera damaged this way....

Thanks for the photos Smiles and Oogleman - much appreciated. Looks like a great outing. For those of you who have been, did you take a taxi out from Pattaya... or, did you have your own transport?

We took a baht bus up Naklua Road to Naklua 12 Road, then a motorcy taxi to the Sanctuary. Obviously you can also take a motorcy taxi the entire way. It isn't that far a trip: http://www.sanctuaryoftruth.com/contact.html
