I stayed at the ICON Hotel in Kowloon a little over a year ago. I really liked it. It's operated by the hospitality department of the technical university nearby so most of the people working there are college kids. I found the service to be great since everyone's grades depended on them doing a good job. It's not the top of the top end but certainly not inexpensive. The bus that runs to the airport train station stops there which can be handy. The hotel also has its own free shuttle that runs to the MTR as well as the luxury mall near the Star Ferry pier. But you can get around on foot too.

I loved the Royal Plaza hotel. You have a subway and a shopping mall under the hotel and the price and accommodations are right in the middle range. Here is the agoda site, but everyone carries booking for this hotel.

One of my drinking mates home here, is on his third trip to Hong Kong trip, in just under a fortnight.

Previously he stayed at Novatel Hotel but has decided to go across the road to Rainbow Hotel.

Rates were about $130 Australian

He mentioned he had no problems taking boys back to his room.

Cost posted for the benefit of anyone searching the forums at a later date perhaps.

I've previously stayed at the hotel below and found it very acceptable ( although not on the Kowloon side and so not as cheap as some hotels over there) but on the plus side it's right next door to Propaganda, HK's biggest gay club ( if that's your thing) and also right in the middle of the main tourist area - and to and from the airport I found a taxi to be the simplest method ( but maybe that was just me being a lazy bugger ) but as it wasn't "that" far I don't recall the taxi being overly expensive from what I recall and it was certainly easy.
