a few days in Hat Yai. Like KL it rained all the time. Stayed at Centara Hotel which had soldiers and a tank outside (just opposite the Lee Gardens Hotel which was bombed a year or two ago). Went to Zeus Sauna. Quite new and clean. But most boys seemed more interested in themselves. Plenty of facilities. Also went to GL sauna, the older and more run down sauna. However, the guys there were more fun, with joking and conversation. Closes at 11pm and opens at 6pm. One of the boys gave me a ride back to my hotel and refused petrol money.
KL-a police crackdown in November has closed saunas. The gay scene, previously discreet but active, has problems ahead according to guys I met. Muslim politicians want to target gays.

Spent a few days in KL last week. Went to Thermos sauna in Bukit and was told after some hesitation, that dark rooms were not so dark and private cabins closed off. DK about the oterh sauna's. But later saw reviews that this was already the case since march/april this year after some police raid. Blue Boy was just going on as it always had done. Some Malay providers ban sites like GR or same-sama.

Hat Yai had a couple of really nice host bars (no go-go) a few years back, with lots of good looking boys of a typically southern ethnic type who were very grateful for customers. A friend who lives in Hat Yai tells me that there has been an influx of Burmese boys in the past year or so, working in places offering massage (and more, if you're lucky).
