I noticed the following article on Richard Barrows twitter feed ( Richard is a respected expat journalist (?) who has been covering the riots minute by minute and posting twitter updates etc.

If he is correct he is claiming that the Thai government have set up a free insurance policy for tourists to reassure them about the risk of mitigating any financial loss or healthcare fees they may incur due to riots or civil disturbance.

Personally I find this incredible as that's usually the first thing that an insurance policy clearly DOESNT cover you for - but the proposed policy, including details how to apply for a pay out seem quite clear that that IS the intent of this cover - anyway, I've pasted the link below so you can have a read for yourselves and make up your own mind ups as to its use or not.
