As a new member I thought it was time I put down what I feel are the problems around Sunee that are possibly making the place unwelcoming.
Too many people including some from another forum who seem to know everything about running a successful bar and also seem to know what everyone wants with regards to music and staff and whom have never even owned nor run a bar. We do not all have the same tastes in boys for a start and as for music being loud or not what people want to listen to how do they know without running a survey. 1 or 2 customers that sit and drink a bottle of water or cup of coffee for hours on end seem to be able to dictate what and when and how a bar should be run, well in the middle of an entertainment area they should loosen up a little and try enjoying life and stop worrying about the person on the next table smoking a cigarette and singing along to a song or just enjoying a night outand having some fun isn't Pattaya supposed to be a fun city?
Too many sad people that have nothing better to do with there lives than to sit and pull other ex-pats to pieces and bar owners, if people don't like someone then why not say what you want to say to there faces and be done with it rather than bore everyone else with your opinions. I get fed up hearing from one bar owner that has never had a business in his life, has no bar running experience telling me how his bar is the best one in sunee has got everything right, boys, drink prices, music, seating etc etc and yet he spends all night running around other bars spending his money which he never fails to tell you he has loads of! I find it peculiar he doesn't stay in his own bar if it so good instead of leaving his boyfriend there to spy on customers and staff and try socialising with his customers!
Maybe bar owners could try looking after the regular ex-pats that are there all year round and who help to pay the bills during the quiet season rather than concentrating on a 2 weeker that has just bought a bottle.
There are a couple of bars that I am happy to use as the owner is there and always happy to chat and welcome you even on a nightly basis these are the professional bar owners in my eyes. I do not and will not go to the bars where seats are reserved for people every night come what may and have to listen to them complaining because I am smoking or the music is too loud, nice bar nice owner but he is ruled by those that profess to knowing what all bars should or should not be doing.
I would like to say that Don Plaza seem to have it right at the moment nice atmosphere nice music, nice staff and very good food now that another place that used to do good food has stopped this is a very welcome watering hole.

Don Plaza Hotel is a pleasant place for a drink and nice atmosphere, etc but the food is not very good.
The best to be said about the food is that it is plentiful and inexpensive. Also the wine is overpriced, mediocre and small servings.
