A new gay forum has just been opened and there are few posts there at present. The layout looks great and hopefully it will do away with a lot of the negative remarks that seem to drag Thailand forums down.

Nice job with the phpBB MODS and styles. Kudos to whoever worked on that.

Members,

I received an email this morning that was sent out to me, Gaybuttonthai, Gay Thailand, bahtstop, Gay Ting Tong and the TBB from an annonymous source announcing a new board.

I am not going to rehash what we went through with the deceptions with the last new Board with a similar theme, Cruising Gay Thailand.
There is nothing that would lead me to believe this is not a reincarnation of that or that either Neal and / or Ron are not involved.

As such, we will not be lending support to this new board on this site for now.

Given recent history, anybody who entrusts their personal information to a new "gay thailand" board where the mystery owner will not reveal himself is a complete fool.

From the style and content of the front page, it seems obvious to me that the mystery owner is well acquainted with the other Boards and it's reasonable to assume that he is probably a member of at least some of them. Therefore you'd think he'd realise the mistrust that exists and would make every effort to be open and transparent - like telling us his ID on the other boards. Instead he chooses to remain anonymous while expecting people to give them their personal info? :-s

Of course, if there is a rabid reaction "elsewhere" to Surfy's suspicion, it may well be an highly reliable indicator as to where the ownership lies, and one would have to observe that Surfy has been 100% correct the last twice.

I've joined to protect and stop others using my username.

My details are "out there" and don't need protection.

I will not be contributing, except in an emergency situation.

Sound idea. I did the same.

Someone smarter than me once said that lunacy can be defined as doing the same thing each time, yet expecting a different outcome.

I wonder where the owner of this new Board got the idea to open it in the first place. Seems to me there is an abundance of message boards right now which focus on 'gay Thailand' topics, and adding another one just because one believes in "the more, the merrier" angle seems like a bit of a waste of time and effort.
Time will tell ...

The List so far:

Sawatdee ~ quite vibrant, a reasonable number of total members posting.
Gaybutton ~ quite vibrant, a reasonable number of total members posting.
Ting Tong ~ close to moribund, and only a very small number of total members posting. Long periods of time between new topics.
Gay Thailand ~ slow but reasonably steady. Only a small number of total members posting.
Baht Stop ~ very limited topic variation (by choice not rules). Very small number of total members posting.
ThaiVisa (Gay Thailand Forum) ~ slow and close to loosing track of 'gay Thailand'. Dominated by 3 or 4 very 'loud' members.
Cruising for Sex (Thailand Forum) ~ Limited topic variation (i.e. 'sex'). Somewhat vibrant for what it is.
The Bitches ~ An 'ego' board only, probably does not belong on this list. Very small number of total members posting. Dominated completely by one.
GayLifeinThailand ~ No relevant information to go on yet. Sceptical.

I always wanted to share my little history (starting in 2009) of gay Thailand forums, here it is.

When I started posting in 2009, there were gaythailand, SGT, gaytingtong, baht-stop.

In 2010, there was discussion on gaythailand if it would become a minor attachment to an escort site. Several posters there, including me, disliked this idea. During this confusion (in the end, nothing changed), gaybuttonthai was founded in July 2010.

Baht-stop had an outage for several week in 2012 (?), which led to foundation of bahtstop (no hyphen) and a series of bitchboards.

Gaytingtong and SGT have been stable (apart from changes of ownership on SGT) and did not give rise to foundation of new boards.

Gaytouri (about 2011 to 2012?) died of boredom.

Now we have gaylifeinthailand, I expect a similar fate.

so far the 'two' people who have been accused of being behind the new board have denied it. and being as we know they never lie then it must be true ( should put an lol here but that would just be for the hard of hearing)

the new board is very simular to a gentlemans board that never got off the ground a few months ago, this was because everyone knew who was behind it and wanted nothing to do with him/it.
no one would make the same mistake twice would they ? i give it a month before they do.

I reckon its Neal who owns it....because.....

The Ambiance Hotel is advertising on the board.
Neal and his hydras have said nice things about the board.

Noone has joined....because they also reckon its Neal and have had enough of smelly miss sally.

Whoever it is ~ and I doubt very much it's Neal, strictly from an Intelligence Perspective ~ this new board has an owner who is eye-rollingly obsessed with Everything Gay, and his excruciating descriptions of his Early Years.
Oh god save us from the blinkered fanatics who color every issue on the face of the earth itself with a rainbow paint brush ... the 'Gay Perspective' nazis. Could a message board start off life more annoyingly?
