I arrived on 22 Oct and that evening headed straight to Scorpion in Soi Twilight to check out the reported Vietnamese contingent. Maybe I was too early. Only Thais working there.

Then went to MaxiтАЩs for an orange juice and a view of the boys glued to their cell phones outside Bangkok Massage. Stayed for a while, hoping to see the Burmese guy who worked there last year. Just as I was about to leave, an ex-bf, now working as a тАЭmassage therapistтАЭ came running up in response to a phone call he had received from one of the other boys. I extricated myself from him but on the way out of the soi, as I passed Hotmale2, my name was called out by, IMHO, one of the most beautiful boys in Thailand. He was working in Sunee for several years, just started at Hotmale2 a few days ago. So despite my travel fatigue, we went back to the hotel to get reacquainted.

I was staying at the Tarntawan, which I always enjoy because of the unreservedly gay-friendly atmosphere, but which I always find hardly merits even 3 stars. Stained carpet, worn furnishings and bathroom fittings, decor from a by-gone era. But good Wi-Fi, decent breakfast, welcoming staff.
================================================== =============

The next morning I awoke feeling every bit my age, and then some. Put off my usual trip to Tops at Silom Complex till the afternoon, decided to spend a quiet evening at the hotel ---- until my libido kicked in around 9pm, so I walked around the corner to Indra Massage (opposite Tawan Bar).

Indra doesnтАЩt have a website and theyтАЩve never been on NickyтАЩs listings, but theyтАЩve probably been in business for 10 years. The guys are not especially attractive but the one I chose (тАЬKтАЭ from Sisaket) was pleasant and did an admirable prostate massage. By the time he had turned me over and started working on my frontal privates, I was tingling so much my hair was almost standing on end.

Indra guys do not get naked and hop on that narrow massage table with you, but the endings are always happy. If you want naked guys from start to finish, go to BonnyтАЩs or Bangkok Massage in the boi soi.
================================================== ===============

My third day: working on the internet, taking a couple of naps. In the evening, I contacted a GR Escort who I had been viewing daily during my celibate months in Vietnam. He arrived at the hotel half an hour late, spoke minimal English. His profile photos do him justice, more justice than he deserves. Massage was amateurish, almost no attention paid to prostate, and I was barely aware that he was doing the тАЬbody to bodyтАЭ that his profile promises. We both had a happy ending, him because I sucked him off and me thanks to my recently purchased Sidegra. His tip for an in-hotel visit was 2,000, agreed before we started. Until I objected, he expected to do his massage therapy wearing a tee shirt and large bath towel. A professional massage boy who was shy!
================================================== ============

Fourth day: Digestion is a constant bother, lungs not operating up to par, and three nights of encounters are reminding me that there are good reasons why people choose, or should choose, to slow down at a certain age.

The other night when I was at MaxiтАЩs, there was a 60-something farang sitting nearby in a motorized wheel chair. Next to him, a younger farang, new to the scene, was being given lengthy advice about life and about Thai boys. Senior claimed to be based in northern Europe and despite needing a wheel chair he was able to travel the world, expanding his business holdings, and everywhere he went he was able to participate in the commercial gay scene. He said here in Thailand he had a young hi-so partner from a distinguished family, but when his partner was away, he frequented the boy bars. He told the younger man to never pay more than a few hundred baht to have sex with a boy. They were just objects to fulfill the customerтАЩs desires, and while he delighted in humiliating them as much as possible, he also claimed that they always welcomed repeat encounters with him. Then there was mention of something called a тАШrosebudтАЩ but it was too noisy in the soi to hear the details.

This evening IтАЩm supposed to meet with an ex-bf, now working as a capitan in Soi Twilight. But not sure whatтАЩs going on. He didnтАЩt respond to the last two emails I sent regarding my arrival date and today he was silent. Quite unlike him. I tried to text and call him but that didnтАЩt work. We are entirely platonic now, but I am concerned by his silence because he has some major health issues.

тАжтАжтАжтАжтАжтАж I wonтАЩt need to make a visit to the hospital or mortuary after all. It turned out that ex-bf forgot to check the date today and didnтАЩt check his email, so he didnтАЩt realize we were supposed to meet tonight. Located him napping on a sofa upstairs in the bar.

According to ex-bf, business is not very good in the bars, except on weekends. He confirmed that the show is expensive to produce. The other night, with 30 boys on staff, not including the dancers, each boyтАЩs share of the tips was a princely 60 Baht, perhaps not even enough for the moto-cy back to his room. And Saturday night, out of the combined Dreamboys/Bangkok Boys force of 150 dancers, there were only five offs. Each of those dancers who was not offed had to be paid a nightly stipend of 200 Baht.

On my way out of the soi, I intended to pick up my lovely ex-Sunee boy, just to have dinner with him, but he had stepped out for a while. Several other very cute boys at Hotmale2, it would only take a few moments to fall in love with them, at least for an hour, but tonight the flesh is weaker than usual and rest is what is needed.
================================================== ==========

Fifth day: Awoke feeling more rested than previous mornings. The occasional celibate evening is a prudent choice. Working on the internet, resting the whole day. But in the afternoon, stomach rumblings began.

Ex-bf and I went to the Montien for dinner. Their тАЬHainanese Chicken with RiceтАЭ is first rate so IтАЩm told. After dinner the ex-bf went to work and I was able to catch the ex-Sunee boy at Hotmale2. I was not feeling up to doing anything, so I just talked with the boy about his future plans, then went over to the ex-bf massage guy to have a word, and then back to my welcoming bed, quite alone. Sigh.

Back in my room, my eye was caught by the note pad next to the bed. Indentations clearly showed the name and bank account info of a Thai boy. So, some other farang in Room 708 had been entrapped. It never stops. We never learn.

Cheers.

Great trip report. It makes me miss my Thailand trip even more. My schedule is normally a bit like yours and I always enjoy seeing those I know. Thanks for the report.

Yes, I have to agree, another well written, entertaining and informative post from bobsaigon2.

I really must get myself along to Scorpion Bar and check out these much praised Vietnamese boys for myself.

ThatтАЩs pretty depressing news from the тАШboysтАЩ point of view тАж a measly 5 offs out of 150 тАШboysтАЩ on offer. ThatтАЩs basically the same story I was told by an ex-boyfriend who still works in Dream Boys/ Boys Bangkok when I met him earlier this year. I think I reported at the time that the тАШboysтАЩ were not very happy about the constant price increases, which they equated to fewer offs and therefore less income. The impression I got at the time was that the management werenтАЩt too concerned. If true, then I donтАЩt quite understand this, as surely the owners have at least as great an incentive to see their тАШboysтАЩ taken out as the тАШboysтАЩ themselves. They are missing out on a considerable amount of income тАж 400-500 baht off fees x 100/150 go-go boys. ItтАЩs a real pity we are unable to hear the other side of the story from the owners point of view.

Then there was mention of something called a тАШrosebudтАЩ but it was too noisy in the soi to hear the details.
Oh, and I have this funny feeling that the term тАЬrosebuddingтАЭ is going to haunt this forum for a long time to come. And all because NIrish-guy happened to be eavesdropping on a private conversation between his vicar and the choir master тАж or did I get the source of this term wrong? :-)

Actually, IтАЩm back in Vietnam already. Just as well. I need to get back on the G-I meds that the doctor at the Franco-Vietnam Hospital prescribed.
Or, if your question was more cosmological, I do wonder how many days I have left. I wonder about that every morning as I struggle to start my day. :-s

not sure who this reminds me of, but a great story.
We all could speculate and weтАЩd all be right.

400-500 baht off fees x 100/150 go-go boys.
Dreamboys off fee is now 650. Add one drink to that, and youтАЩre up to a thousand. ItтАЩs easy to see the attraction of GR and similar sites, though of course there is no matching the excitement of being in the bar and up close to the objects of our desire. All depends on how much weтАЩre willing to spend for that excitement.

Thank you very much for your report, I enjoyed it, especially your sense of humor.

I doubt this number (150 boys), I even doubt their advert (is it 69 boys?). I have never seen that many boys walk in when the bars open or walk out when the bars close, and from my visit about a year ago I would estimate 40 boys.

I talked with a boy who changed from Classic to one day at Scorpion (where I met him) to Dream Boys (attracted by 2000 Baht for short time off), and he said he goes to work and back by taxi from Rangsit, 300 Baht each way. I will have to contact him to confirm this and ask if he would stop at my place (more or less on the way) in the early evening before work for a short time for 1000 Baht.

Only Thais working there.
Or Vietnamese trying to pass as Thai (see my recent post about Scorpion). Do you speak Thai or Vietnamese so you would be able to find out?

Re Scorpion: Yes, I am familiar enough with both Thai and Vietnamese languages to be able to recognize which one they were speaking. As I say, I may have arrived too early (before 8pm) for the Viet guys.

Great Report. 'Boy' is cute but not the angel I had expected. What makes him interesting is that he seems so innocent not such a slut like others. His friend told me he never goes out with customers, he's just 17. he told me all Vietnamese are top only.

Christian, I was told by my ex, who works in those bars, that, between the two bars, they have over 100 boys тАШon the booksтАЩ. But they are not all there at the same time, some boys are on their day off, some boys are off sick, some have returned home for one reason or another and others are with customers on long-time offs.

he told me all Vietnamese are top only.

What ALL of them ! lol - Wow, that must make for one serious amount of frustrated Vietnamese guys all walking about with nowhere to stick it in their sauna's ! :-) I doubt somehow he's correct about that and it reminds me of a Filipino telling me ( and he absolutely meant and believed this) that "there are no gay people in the Philippines" - I found out later what he meant was that as they were all taught that to be gay was an offence to god and as they were all good strict Catholic boys hence no one was gay, they were all Bi - but Bi guys who just never it seems happened to go with or have any interest in Women it seemed !! ( Quite sad really when you think about that as to how the church fucks so many gay peoples heads up). So, I'm guessing your guy might be meaning just the same as many Thai guys we all know, who aren't gay and are strictly man / king only - and yet bottom like champions and LOVE IT once the hotel room door is locked ( and a wallet gets opened a little more perhaps :-)

Great report, Bob. Your reports are always a good read and this one is no exception.

Did sidegra have any unwelcome side-effects? And where did you buy it?

The only Thai guys I've ever seen working in Scorpion are Nut, who has now gone elsewhere, and Pat, the money boy. (BTW beware of any moneyboy who smiles and refers to you as "darling." It's a sure sign they are hardened rentboys ;) ) You may have arrived too early, although I have found them there at all hours. They are definitely there around midnight. As I posted earlier, I've gone a little cold on Scorpion, as Mr Cutie is often not there, and it is hard to have any conversation with the Viet boys.

Nirish, maybe they meant that all the Vietnamese guys at Scorpion are top only, not Viet guys in general. I've been told that there are no bottoms working there.

What??? Now I know beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but surely he is the cutest guy who ever lived! Those eyes, those lips, those perfect teeth, that cute face, that soft skin, that gorgeous smile! Totally angelic.
Come on now! Timmy and Magnum, , you are hard men to please!

I bought Sidegra at that small pharmacy around the corner from Tarntawan Place Hotel, the shop next to the new entrance to Tawan Apartments.

The pharmacist said to take a whole tablet, whereas in Pattaya I was told to take half. The effects of the whole Sidegra were, for me, slightly less strong that a half Kamagra, though the chemical makeup of both is the same: 100 mg Sidanafil.

The pharmacy near Tarntawan charged 600 Baht for four tablets. Got back to my room and saw on the box a few Thai words, followed by "45 Baht" (per tablet, I sssume). Was that the price for Thais, or only when prescribed by a physician?

Also, I have it on good authority that some bar owners sell it to the boys for 50 Baht per tablet. Even young guys sometimes need it when the customer is really not to their liking, or when they have to perform on stage.

Post-script: On the way back to Vietnam, with my G-I track doing cartwheels, I was determined not to return to Bangkok or Phnom Penh or Manila or Luang Prabang for another flesh trip. After all, why spend a couple of thousand for three encounters, only one of which was satisfying, and follow that up with three nights of stomach problems?

Back in Saigon, three days on, all systems working well, and I'm back on GR surveying the profiles. Maybe Siem Reap next time. I wouldn't have stomach troubles there, would I?

No matter how old we get, there is always that unending search for satisfaction. If I can still board a plane when I'm 80, I guess I'll be doing the same thing,...... or at that point, I might take pity on the boys and stay home, save them the displeasure of having sex with an ancient.

What a joke this life is.

And for those of you not familiar with the Scottish dialect: Lang may yer lum reek = long may your chimney smoke

I suppose there are a couple of interpretations of chimney, depending on one's focus in life. :)

A cute vietnam boy worked in that palace of sleeze, the BB Inn on Rama 1V, last year. His name is Nam. Still there now I don't know. He was the guy who did the hard work that the Thais wouldn't do. He also snuk into my bed two nights in a row which took some of the bugs off me.
