I did stay in Siam Palm hotel , i like it because near the beach walk 5 minutes and on a quit place , about 10 minutes from the bars. Rooms are about 1.500 bath. Siam Palm is gay friendly , a good restaurant and not ask fee for overnight stay.

Most gay hotels are in the soi, ( gay street ) , but can be noisy at night.

I always travel white Thai airlines, but maybe expensive, your flight will be only one hour.

Hope you have a good Holiday in Phuket, enjoy .

Siam Palm is pretty good and I also enjoy being a bit away from the Paradise madness.
Also, the Palm just barely missed being bit by the big wave, surely a sign of a great location!

" ... (1) which is the best airline 2 fly from bkk to phuket and are there any deals on at the moment........(2) was going 2 look at property in Hua Hin when i was over there, any body know anything about Hua Hin................(3) were is the best place 2 stay in phuket...."

(1) You can fly Thai Airways to Phuket (and back) and be able to choose from at least a dozen flights (maybe more!) and times. On Thai it will cost you ~ including taxes and fees ~ 6,180 Baht ( http://www.thaiairways.com ). You'll fly in a wide-body 747 and the flight takes just over an hour.

Alternatively, you can take one of the regional Thai airlines: Nok Air is a good choice (I've flown it a number of times). It will cost you significantly less than Thai ... ~ including taxes and fees ~ 3500 Baht. Flight time is about the same, but you'll be flying on a smaller 737. The Nok Air scheduale is not so varied, and their website lists only 2 flights a day to Phuket ( http://www.nokair.com/ ). Watch out for overweight baggage cost on Nok Air. I got dinged for a couple of hundred extra Baht, and I really didn't think I had all that much. I believe Thai Air is more generous with baggage allowance.
But Nok is a good choice if price is the main consideration.
There are a number of other regional airlines which fly to Phuket, and I would think their rates and scheduales would be similar to Nok Air.

(2) Hua Hin is a sweet little resort town about a 2 hour bus ride south of Bangkok. Beautifully clean, white sand beach ... lots of interesting side trips into the jungle and mountains just west of Hua Hin ... and a reasonably decent night life. But ... it ain't Pattaya or Patong!! The gay scene there is very quiet with 3 or 4 not-so-busy bars. Personally I like it the way it is, and in fact Hua Hin is our choice of a place to hang our hats semi-permanently in a year or so. It's quite central, and Bangkok & Pattaya are only a few hours away by car or bus, and Phuket is a long day's drive south.

(3) Obviously there is no way of telling you a "best" place to stay in Patong Beach ... too subjective a question. The Siam Palm Hotel has been mentioned above, and I quite agree. We've stayed there a couple of times and always had an enjoyable and laid back experience. It's certainly not exclusively gay, but is very friendly in that sense, and no one will pay any attention to that aspect. It's about an easy 10-minute walk to the Paradise Centre.

Within the Paradise itself, you might give some thought to booking the Rendezvous Hotel. It's a few soi's away (i.e. a 30 second walk!) from the main action, but that's far enough to make it much quieter. I agree with the observation above regarding the main "gay" soi ... it's wild and happening, but I found it hard to get a good night's sleep with all the noise down on the street. If you like that sort of thing, the gay soi (can't recall the number) has at last 3 or 4 small hotels to choose from ... including Connect, James Dean, Joachim's, and a few more.
A huge amount of info on Phuket/Patong Beach can be found here: http://www.beachpatong.com/gaypatong/index.htm#index

Cheers ...

I usually book over the net. I doubt you'll get a cheaper flight by using a travel agent (especially with the regional airlines, like NOK) .

With Thai Air it might be worth a try ... but for myself, just a hassle. I like to get the flight bookings over and done with, and outta my hair.

Cheers ...

I tried last week to book on the Nok site, from Thailand and charge to my US MasterCard, but on the last step, the booking page came up with a message that they are installing new software that currently is not accepting foreign credit cards. I had the same problem about 3 weeks ago as well.

It gave a local phone number and they made the booking over the phone with my US MasterCard and send me a text cell phone conformation. I think you have to call from your cell phone in Thailand and have text messaging capability to book.

Last week when the message came up, I called again and was told that I would have to go to the airport to make a reservation. I waited a few minutes and called the same number, got someone different and made the booking over the phone. This guy said the web site will be updated soon.

Other than this minor web booking glitch, Nok has worked out fine.

I flew to and from Phuket from Bangkok a couple of months ago.
I thought the airline very good, with new and clean 737 planes. Check-in was efficient, and both flights left on time.
And the price was half of Thai Airlines.

I had booked weeks before via internet from home, had no problems, and even selected my seats on the flights at the time of booking. Booking weeks ahead gives a cheaper ticket.
Travel agents may not book NokAir.

If they get their internet site up and running, I would suggest they are well worth trying.

Try Air Asia too. bookable online www.airasia.com (http://www.airasia.com)

I had a quick look at cost of flights on 21 Jan returning a week later.
Many flights available at different times of day for on average around BHT 1000 each way. Yes, 1000!!
The planes are quite new, clean etc., but u will have to bring or buy snacks/drinks on board.
Whether it is the "best" airline (as per your question) is subjective but it's certainly good value for money. :)

Has anyone gone from the Utopa airport in pattaya via Koh samui to phuket. Do the bath buses go this far or does one need to get a taxi? Hang on I donтАЩt even know where Utopa airport is exactly?

Any ideas of plane costs as opposes to going from Bangkok, & how what is the difference in time between the 2 routes in duration.

I agree with the person who mentioned Air Asia being cheap. Its convenient, can book over the net and takes no longer than any other airline. You should also be aware that over weight checked in baggage, as with other airlines, is penalised, although my carry on baggage was definitely over the limits too, this was not weighed or charged for. I did found BKK domestic terminal a bit of a problem, don't get there too early as they make you wait in what can be a very overcrowded, hot and noisy check in hall.

As for somewhere to stay in Phuket, I do recommend Club One Seven - The original club 17 was destroyed last year and this new one is less than 5 mins from beach & a very short tuk tuk ride to Paradise. Very nice quiet rooms, particulary the ones facing the river/mountain. Wonderful staff, great food and no hassle. A really welcoming family feel gay guesthouse where everyone is attentive without being invasive - http://www.cluboneseven.net/

I also recommend to you the dreadedned website, which has been invaluable to me in my journey through gay Thailand - http://www.dreadedned.com/

U-Tapao International Airport has a website at www.utapao.com/index.php (http://www.utapao.com/index.php)
Mostly in thai but even if you cannot read thai you should be able to catch most of the interesting information there.
As for the location go to this link and you will get an idea about where it is

Thank you Google ! :toothy8:

Dear Monleigh,
Direct flights daily to Samui and to Phuket. Flight time the same as from Bangkok with same aircraft ATR72. See Bangkok Airways website for details, booking and transport to U-tapao.
