Board Maintenance Announcement

Members,

Your admin team has been working on improvements for the board that we will see over the coming weeks.

In order to proceed any further with our work, we will need to take the board offline for a small amount of time while we change to a new, much more powerful server. While this change is taking place, the board will not be available and we estimate the down time to be as little as an (1) hour or up to approximately three (3) hours in length.

In addition, after the work, some of you may experience problems being directed to the new site location based on your computer cache (dns) or computerтАЩs memory once we've changed servers. Your computer's memory may want to try to take you back to our old location and this board, once it has been disabled. This may resolve right away or should fully resolve on it's own worldwide in a few days after the server change...or....you can clear your cache, to speed up the process by following either of these instructions in the following links;

https://help.ea.com/ca/article/how-to-flush-dns-cache-for-windows

http://docs.cpanel.net/twiki/bin/view/AllDocumentation/ClearingBrowserCache

We would like to perform this work on Monday October 21st at approximately 11:00 AM Pacific Standard Time, or 2 PM Eastern Standard Time 7 PM Greenwich Mean Time in London or 1 AM (Tuesday October 22) in Thailand. If you experience any access problems after this Maintenance work, please contact sawatdee-gay-thailand@hotmail.com or surfcrest@hotmail.com

Once this work has been complete, we will let you know about some of the other coming improvements that we are working on.

Note- the flush DNS thing is just something to do AFTER you access the board and see the "board disabled" announcement. It won't help to do that before then. It might help your computer find the new server for the domain more quickly if you do this when this time comes some time tomorrow.

Members,

I would like to thank you all for your patience through our server changeover earlier this week and express how sorry I am that we lost several hours worth of posts with a post changeover glitch. We understand that you depend on us to keep the board up with reliability and so I believe we learned a valuable lesson on our new integration with this server. We've gone from being a tenant on someone else's server, to having our own and so with increased power comes more controls to manage.

As Elephantspike mentioned already, the server changeover was a necessary step to take towards moving forward with some of the changes you the membership will notice. As it was mentioned in previous threads on the topic, this is also the first step in hopefully addressing our site blocking issue. The new server will also allow us to modernize our format and to improve upon the functionality of the board.

Now that we have a better understanding with how our board will interact with our new server, we are in a better position of minimizing any future impact to the board and to our posts. There will be additional periods of time (hours) that we will again have to take the board down for maintenance. We hope that each time we do, you notice it less and that we come back with something new for you to enjoy.

Once again thank you for your patience and I apologize for our interruption earlier this week.
