I have the basic (free) version of Grindr and messages are stored for 30 days and then they disappear. How can I get them as text (like in Gayromeo or Line: as an email) or store them for longer than 30 days? All I can do now is to take a screenshot.

Sorry Christian, I think you're out of luck as I don't think you can save messages ( or even pics etc) on Grindr, I can't work out whether it's an intentional thing on the App designers part that they've intentionally designed the App that way to keep it a very "live" experience or that it's just perhaps a bit shit ( I'm leaning towards the second option) - but if I'm wrong someone do please correct me as like yourself I would find it handy sometimes when you've been chatting to someone for a while to be able to save some / all of the chat info for when I want to check back on say an email address or phone number that I know they gave me and I hadn't bothered to write down and sods law when you look for it it's gone :-( Any grindr developers out there take note perhaps ! :-(

Hey Christian re your question - I see Grindr has now launched a new totally updated version of their App which does have the ability to save chats and photos I believe, of course all those new "features' are in the Grindr extra ( pay version) so I'm not sure if that would be your bag or not, but so you know the option is there if you want it now I think.

Just in case you ( or anyone) is thinking of buying the latest grindr upgraded app I have to warn you amazingly EVERY single review out of the first 30 listed says it's crap and to be avoided - and to get 30 shit reviews on the App Store in a row when it's them who are selling it says a lot really I guess - so BAYOR !

I checked their FAQ, didn't find an answer so I contacted support.

Hello There,

Thanks for reaching out to us.

We're sorry but there is no way for us to transfer the chats out of app.

Regards,

This is very strange. We are living in a digital world. I send chats on Gayromeo or Line that I want to keep (phone numbers, email addresses, personal information) to my email, this should be possible for Grindr as well.

Ahhh you want to export them, I see, I thought you wanted merely to save them within the App, which I think you can do now ( and is surely every bit as handy as then you can access the guys pic etc and it shows you your full historical conversation ( which has saved my bacon sometimes when a guy messages me and I've totally forgotten that we've already met up or something and by reading back I can avoid dropping myself in it - I really will have to work on improving my memory, or cutting down the amount of whoring around I do ! - or fuck it, maybe not :-)

You do know if it's only some important details you want to grab such as the guys name and phone number etc that you can "copy" any text you wish and then "paste" it into whatever other programme you want, which in a round about way does what you're looking to achieve I guess.

Yes, I just want to copy paste (as an alternative to saving), but it doesn't work. When I touch the message for a second, it gets "selected" and I can select all or unselect all, and there is an icon to "save text phrases" but only for Grindr Xtra.

Have you updated / got the latest release of Grindr Christian as it does ( should) allow you to copy and paste chat text, I've just tried it there to be sure and it all works fine on my (i)phone ?

The latest Grindr app crashes all the time , when you try to look at pictures it shuts down randomly .
A lot of users are complaining.

I just stick to my Gayromeo app , works much better.

It is updated automatically and yes, it crashes quite often.

Maybe it depends on your mobile phone if you can highlight, copy, paste text. I can't. (i-mobile IQ 6)
