When I send a PM, I first get a message saying that it has been sent successfully. BUT the message is then also added to the Outbox and stays there. On Outlook / Outlook Express, if something goes to the Outbox it is being held there and has not been sent... So are my SGF PMs actually being delivered to their intended recipients or not?

PM are held in your "out" box until the recipient goes online -

"PM Message received" by email is sent if requested and/or X new messages is displayed at the top of the page.

The recipient do not have to open or read you PM.

The strange thing is, the sender can delete a message before you read it, then it still stays in your inbox, but you cannot read it.

Yes, I've been getting a few of those lately. Can't imagine why someone would do that ... unless embarrassed by one's own message I suppose.
