Last night I went to Hotmale. The bar was filled with Asians - I was the only farang there, as far as I could see. There was a group of Chinese ladies who were very loud and were singing! I am a bit confused about the two VN guys. In one area you said both guys are definitely not offable and in another you said that the owner wanted to charge you an off fee for taking the guy for shoes. Why did he try to charge you an off fee if the guys are not offable?

Yeah, the owner asked for the off fee as, according to his explanation, there would be one boy less to look after the customers. I assured him that the other 6 or so boys would be more than adequate to take care of the flood of customers he was expecting whilst we were away - I was the only customer at the time. :sign5:

Antoine is a nice guy but very business-minded. He said that if I wanted the boys to sit with me I had to buy them a drink. "But if you do that, the bar doesn't make any money," he replied. And that is also fair enough, so what I did was buy them less drinks and tip them more. When you consider that I spent about 1500 baht in the bar every night on drinks for 14 nights straight (mainly for the boys, as I don't drink very much), I didn't think he'd mind if I substituted the odd orange drink with 100 baht. But he did.

Oh, and when we came back from the shoe buying exercise, he wanted me to take all the boys out and buy them new shoes also! But maybe that is something he could do for them. And he hinted that I could perhaps pay for Nut's hospital expenses by continually mentioning how much the boy had to pay each day. Again, it is not my job to take care of the medical expenses of his employees; that is something he should be doing.
