On the FAO World Milk day (1st of June ), Deputy Public Health Minister Cholanan Srikaew stated that Thai youths aged 18 were rather short with the average height of males at 167.1cm. He declared this was because an average Thai drinks only 14 litres of milk per year, compared to a South East Asia average of 60 litres., and that Thais should be encouraged to drink milk.

I adore a glass of chilled full cream milk with my breakfast.

I have always understood that Thai people consider that consumption of dairy products causes some sort of unpleasant body odour - a problem that many experience when in close physical contact with farang. Is that a myth?

Many Asians have lactose intolerance, i.e. they can't digest lactose (a kind of sugar found in milk and dairy products), which causes bowel problems.
