Apparently there is a surge in meningitis infections among gay men with often lethal and debilitating effects. There is an article in the New York Times which gives further info.
At most risk are those who hook up for anonymous sex and who contact partners via sites such as Grindr according to the article. A simple vaccination can prevent the spread of this disease.
