If anyone has been to Hanoi lately please tell some of the interesting things you have done or seen in the city.

I was there a little over a month ago. It's a typical South East Asian city, bustling with life, noise and smells. Vietnamese food is delicious. Stay in the French Quarter. The massage places are pretty good and Vietnamese masseurs are as delicious as the food, and they do everything. A masage including tip is a little cheaper than Pattaya.
All taxi drivers will try to rip you off, that's a fact. Whenever you buy anything go very very slowly as their notes are in denominations of 500'000 and 50'000 and it is very easy to confuse the two.
If you have time (make time) go to Halong Bay as it's beauty and tranquility is unsurpassed.
