Hi Guys,

I'll be travelling around China this spring.
Where can I find fun for free? websites, venues...
Where can I find fun for pay? websites, venues, recommended escorts...

I've read somewhere that in China it's best to stick to reputable agencies. Which are they? Are ChinaGayStar and ChinaGayEscort one and the same?

Thanks

OMG... I could provide heaps of suggestions but which bloody part of China are you wanting to know about?

It's a freaking huge country. Over a billion people worth of cities there.

As for HK... don't know about paid sex but there's lots and lots of places you can find genuine fun. I know HK has a lot of saunas but I've never bothered with them. In terms of night life, Zoo, Volume Beat and Propaganda come first to mind. Look them up. I picked up at all three during my single days! Zoo and Volume Beat are bars for earlier in the evening. Propaganda is a nightclub and gets busier later in the evening.

Honkies tend to be pretty blunt about wanting to hook up with you. I've had some of the most direct propositions there and still get them.... "my friend want to have sex with you... you like him??!! No? What about me? Look, feel this... I gym every day!"

I find them very handsome but a lot of them (not all) don't seem to have a warm or romantic bone in them... It's just all about sex and hooking up. I'm just stereotyping of course.

If you don't want to check out suanas and stuff or have no luck, try rentboy.com

Thanks guys.

BL, of course you're right. On my first trip I'll be in Beijing, Xian and Lijiang, with one night stops at Datong, Pingyao and Taiyuan. Anything you can contribute?

Neil, before resorting to rentboys, are there any specific places you recommend?

Thanks again

Mine was a quick business trip. I think it was 4 days and it was about 10 years ago. I was at trade shows during the day and therefore I just did rentboy.com in the evenings. Thre were a few boys that all had same phone numbers so they went through agencies. At least at that time, the boys they sent out were hot hot hot!

You should try the saunas in HK. Many have naked nights where they lock the private cabins and everyone walks around naked having sex. Got a problem with that?

Overall, I would say the guys are much much better looking in the Southern part of China, than they are in the North. This is just personal preference, of course. The Chinese guys I've been with in the South are stunning... though a few got a bit clingy and kept trying to contact me asking when I'd be back.

Sorry... The only place I can help is with Xian, which is in the North. Didn't really check out the gay nightlife when I was in Beijing and not been to the other cities.

With Xian, it's not a place I would bother picking up as I didn't find many/any of the locals were good looking. Plus, they're not friendly and it's just not a nice place at all.

- I tried to visit bunch of gay bars I found on Gayscout/Utopia and didn't even chat to, let alone pick up any locals. Two of the bars I failed to find.

- The third bar I found was "In D" but it was a hole. All guys in groups just chatting to teach other. Not friendly. No atmosphere. Awful stage show. Easiest way to find it is to be asked to be taken to the "Starway Hotel". The entrance is just to the left of this, about 30 metres down the road (it's a main road). It's a red sign with "In D" written in English.

- I visited one sauna out of curiosity and it was shit... small, dingy and people (none good looking) just lying there watching TV. Really really got to feel sorry for gay guys growing up in this city.

- Funnily enough, the only "hook up" that occurred when I was in this city was when I went to get a massage in my hotel spa. I was staying in a 5-star hotel (I will not name) and it had an amazingly well decked out day spa. I went down to get a massage and requested a male masseur. A young, handsome enough guy turned up, During the massage I got aroused and it slipped out from under the towel (positioned around my waist) when he was doing my abs. He didn't bother to reposition the towel and after a while gave my member a nice long stroke... which ended in us sharing a nice moment together. I guess he was gay. Up to this point, I had all but given up hope of "getting to know" any locals... so my faith was restored!

Be prepared to be patient for these places to be challenging to find...

1. None of the taxi drivers speak English and even if you do speak their language (which I do, though not very well) it is not easy. I found it easiest to either point out there I wanted them drop me on the map or give them the name of a hotel or well known landmark or amenity. I would get dropped off there and proceed on foot.

2. The reason I did this is these places can take a bit of walking around to find.

3. The Google maps and addresses on the Gayscout and Utopia websites are mostly hopelessly inaccurate, often by several blocks. Be prepared to walk around a lot. I reckon some of the places listed are not even open anymore but it's just as likely they were just not accurately placed on the map because the places which I did find were not where they should be on the map. It got quite frustrating and slightly scary at times, particularly as I was usually trying to find these places late at night.

One thing I DO recommend you check out while you're in China is the local public baths, which are in most cities. The Chinese are not shy with public nudity at all and walk around completely naked and just holding a small towel in their hand in these complexes. Nice opportunity to check out a local practice (public bathing) and a few bodies!

The baths in the Southern cities definitely had nicer bodies but if you are in Xian and want to check one out, go to the "Real Love Spa". It's on Zhu Que Lu (Lu = Road) and is right opposite the Small Wild Goose Pagoda. There's no English signage. Look out for the large building with lots of glass and a big car park out the front. It's a busy place so you'll see lots of people with cars going in and out - mainly wealthy middle glass Chinese.

When you go in, turn right for the mens section. You pay, go to your locker and strip off. You stay nude and carry (not wear) a small towel once you leave your locker. Only exception is if you go upstairs for a meal or drink in the restaurant (which I recommend).

There seems to be similar spas in most cities, which are worth a visit.

Thank you BL very much for investing so much time in such a long, detailed and helpful response.
