When I had a gay wholesale distribution company in the USA, several years before I retired, I retired Spatacus Guides as they had notably old unreliable information. Places had opened and places had closed throughout the world before thier issues were published. Freebie monthly magazines and quarterlies far surpassed yearly Spartacus. At that time Spartucus relied heavily on circulars that were sent out and the businesses filled out with thier information and not a hands on peek at the place. Places were not listed that did not fill them out and mail them back in or that neve were sent these forms. Not sure as that was about 5 or 6 years ago since I looked at one.

Today with the WWW, most venues have websites, which are easily found on google etc, and forums like this one for Pattaya give us all the latest information we need...why would you buy a book which is out of date even before it's printed? Today it's even more the case as many cities have one off events, specialist nights etc. I still think the regular magazines are useful, but spartacus, for me, is a remnant of a previous dark era, when you had to go and buy a pizza from a restauarant and take it home yourself, when you enjoyed a song you heard at the disco you had to go and queue to buy the vinyl, and when I was young and good looking (ok young lol)

Crikey guys i still have a copy of a 1999 Men of Thailand book i purchased from the bookshop opposite the Post office in Pattaya. I still enjoy flicking thru it even thou most of the venues have long since gone but it brings back a smile to my face.

Jolly Jack, I used to have this guide TGMOT also...it was really useful (I bought prior to my first visit) in explaining the areas, some maps etc........thinking of the days , the excitement and anticipation of discovering this new paradise still makes me smile also :love4:
