A lot of people stay at Mosaik condos . A 5 minute walk but close to daytime action.

Self contained immaculate condition. You are not serviced unless you ask for it.

Plenty of restaurants , massage bars and coffee bars around.

do a search for Mosaik using the search feature

I have to agree, Mosaik is a great place to stay and definitely one of the cleaner condos buildings around

Another vote for Mosaik - good quiet location but near to everything. I'll be back in June

Another vote for Mosaik. Will be back in november.
Recently stayed in The Point Residence only a few steps from Happy Boys and some short walk to Sunee. I also would stay in Pius Place. Had a closer look to the rooms. Also would stay again in Eurasia Hotel and Residence only a few meters from Point Residence.

If Harry prefers a hotel to an apartment/condo, the Don Plaza is in the middle of the Sunee action as is the Marina Inn and of course the VC Hotel (it helps if you speak Pakistani in that one).

SG....he was asking for guest friendly....does that really fit with VC hotel? I have never even considered it, but assumed it would not be gay guest friendly....or even gay friendly there.

February 18th, 2013, 18:41
Fair point, Anonone - I missed the "guest-friendly" part, and although I have no direct evidence that there would be a problem in the VC Hotel, I can see that there could be a problem not least with the agressively masculine Pakistanis trying to steal your boy off you - as I have experienced around the pool in the Welcome Plaza!!

I would not rush to reserve a room at Don Plaza. Most Tripadvisor comments were positive, except for this one (Google translation from German):

We wanted to take 14 days leave, but have canceled after 10 days of vacation and took off. Hotel has come down and not clean. Matresses sit full bed bugs you get rashes. The mattress cover were dirty and stained was not the room clean, not Saub cleaned nor the cobwebs away gemacht.Das bathroom was a disaster, it Stank lay the tiles on the floor. the hose next to the toilet was changed after mehrmahligem demands. On the counter in the hotel is the glass plate is broken, does not look good. The laundry was dried over the breakfast tables and next to it was the clothes ironed. This was our first gay hotel, we will not fly again buchen.Ich for 20 years in Thailand, but such a dirty place I've never had. The breakfast was always the same, toast, rolls and Aufback always the same Aufschnitt.Mit bedbugs and a gastrointestinal infection seen from home, and not one of the hotel chefs on departure. Did not well considered necessary. . The hotel staff was always nice.

I haven't stayed, but I have had a tour of the Don Plaza with a view to staying at a future date and I must say it all looked fine to me on the surface.

The reviews are almost all in German and a mix of excellent and terrible (no half measures!)
The review you have reproduced would certainly make me think again though.

HI,
Am somewhat surprised no one mentioned Two Guys Guesthouse.. It is in Sunee and very popular, You are guest and friend after the first day and is very friendly place to be. It is not expensive and offers several promotions. It has one drawback, No Lift or elevator,, If you can walk up steps then this is certainly a guest house to look at.

Just thought of something else that may be relevant for the original posting....mosaic apartments are very nice, but they are not a hotel with staffed 24 hour reception. If you prefer that someone check/keep the ID of your guests then you might wish to stay someplace set up for that.

I am not concerned with it now as BF is always with me, but in my free-wheeling bachelor days I always stayed at someplace where IDs were checked and held. Just a personal preference, but you should be aware of the difference.

I did some checking a few weeks ago.

None of the Sunee Plaza places have lifts/elevators. Two Guys said they might have a first floor room available (one flight up) towards the end of March. Need to book early with them.

Also, if I stayed in Sunee, since I no longer ride baht busses or motorbike taxis, it would mean staying in Sunee 24/7 and that was not an appealing prospect.

The Point Residence and the Mosaik looked good, but I'm just not fit enough to walk more than a couple of hundred yards, so I finally fell back on my usual m.o.: rent a car and stay elsewhere, which for the next trip will be Baan Souy Resort at Thappraya Soi 15. Their accommodations cannot be faulted.

I would not hesitate to recommend Baan Dok Mai Guesthouse in Soi Day Night.

http://www.baandm.com/index.htm

The owner, Warwick if I remember correct, is very friendly and helpful.

I have stayed there a couple of times and the rooms have been spotless clean and with a balcony.

Downstairs there is a coffee shop with good breakfast and food untill maybe 5 or 6.

The guesthouse has no lift and you have your own key to enter in the nighttime or when the coffeeshop close down.

Yes "Baan Souy Resort" would be my first choice a pleasure to stay in a well run establishment which offers everything anyone could need - but as the original request was for a place near Sunee I did not mention it. :party
