hi
just getting everything sorted out and booked.
i was thinking maybe better first going to seam reap instead of going to chaing mai, the thing is
is it possible to get a van or bus or taxi from airport to the border , to carry on too seam reap???
i will miss the first train, as i arrive 7am, and ive read the next train gets you in very late.
so do i stay the night in bkk and get the first train or get some sort of other transport to
the border, any advise please,
i know Neal has went from Pattaya by van, and has advise me in many other parts of my trip
but has anybody went straight from the airport
thanks

Why not just fly direct to Siem Riep and avoid all that train / driving and border stuff altogether ??

I am sure that travelling by air has it's advantages but so does travelling by van. I enjoy the van ride not because it takes longer but there is just so much to see on the ground. You can stop and see anything that catches your eye and know that you have seen that it as well as the Poipet crossing is an experience unto itself. One can go to and see the casinos and things that are at the here and admire the boys. Yes, boys and my my my are there boys. Talk about 6 packs? These boys have 9! All day long you have hundreds, maybe thousands of boys who work hard carrying luggage and goods in carts that are supposed to be drawn by horse drawn by hard, human power. God are they handsome! Last time I went I went with B's brother. Well I say brother but he is really a katoy brother. This boy had his hair dyed blonde, and was gay built with definitely a swish. Every boy and every man must have passed and stared! I mean stared!!! I felt that with a room and a fishing rod it could have been falang fishing for boys with no turn downs!! We were stuck waiting for our van to go to Siem Reap for about 45 minutes and I will tell ya......I would never miss that experience again!! So different strokes for different folks. This time round I have a room at one of the casino's in Poipet and am spending the night! See you in Siem Reap a day later guys! :snorting:

IF you mean BKK=Swampy and IF you mean that infamous Poipet=behind Aran(yaprathet) border then there ARE 2 direct buses from the taxi-floor at swampy:
7.30 (usually 10/15 mins later-dont panick-7.30 is from the nearby BUSterminal)- and-fri/sat/sun ONLY also at 9.30. These buses run till right beside border. Buy ticket from booth-its a bit basic, but clearly labelled. Good fairly new bright yellow AC buses.
For later arrival: best way is the ARL to PHyathai, then from nearby Vict.Monument (walk or BTS 1 stop) there are VANs=minibuses to same border, but youll have to ask around,as by now about any central Thai town has some of such vans to the Vict. Monument. Go when full-at least hourly.
talesofasia.com and canbypublications are Khmer sites and have latest info.

Oh-as is very well know, FLites BKK=SR have since they opened up a monopoly-with high monopoly prices, by BKK_air.Cost at least double of flying PnPn with AirAsia. I read somewhere that some new Khmer company has now also started flying this route-sorry, forgot name, but its hardly cheaper.

I believe this is the airline Pong is referring to - who fly from Pattaya it seems and not Bkk, but do perhaps just satisfy yourself that they ARE actually operating as normal as I know when they launched there seemed to be quite a bit of confusion about were they "actually" flying as their website went down etc and I see you still can't get a straightforward price for / or book a flight which always worries me, but their office number is listed there and they did assure me when I last checked ( a few months ago now) via facebook that everything was ok - but if you are going that route do just make sure you're happy before hitting 'book" and paying with your credit card perhaps.

An email sent from a friend coming to visit me ,gave me details of new Cambodia Air flights to Bangkok. I have flown Cambodia flights between Phnom Penh and Seam Reap a number of times. Clean, effecient, very pleasing to see them expand. Will be much cheaper than Bangkok Air to fly to Seam Reap now.
