Holiday expenses 09.09.-29.09.2012

Back due to popular demand! All prices in Thai Baht. One day is from getting up until getting to bed (which is often past midnight). I usually pay hotel room in one sum when I depart, for clarity splitted into days. X+y means X is the price and y is tip, exept for taxi where I always round up to next ten Baht. Total 47728 Baht for 20 nights and 21 days, thatтАЩs 2386 per night or 2273 per day.

You want to know how to holiday in Thailand on less than 500 Baht per day? Check 16. and 17.09.2012!

New: whom I slept with and how I met them! In chronologial order: gogo bar (Classic Boys, long time), gogo bar (X-Boyz Bangkok, short time), friend from previous holiday (long time), camfrog (two days and two nights), friend from previous holiday (long time), gogo bar (X-Boyz Pattaya, short time, I have no recollection of this encounter), gogo bar (Toy Boys, long time), Saensuk sauna (long time), gayromeo (long time), massage in Silom, DJ-station (long time), gogo bar (Screw boys, long time).

In order of frequency: 5 x gogo, 2 x aquaintance from previous holiday, 1 x each camfrog, sauna, gayromeo, massage, disco. 6 moneyboys and 6 non-moneyboys.

That makes 12 different sexual partner, which is an excellent result for twenty nights (one was only massage in the massage parlor; I stayed with a friend over night without sex and I hooked up in DJ station one night with a drunken boy and found the following morning that he is not my type, so we dropped the subject of sex).

Fascinating. Thank you for the detail. I like that walk from Silom via Soi Convent and Soi Mozart -and great that the route is still open past Babylon and through the gates of the Sukhothai tower. Do you find that most of the men on Gay Romeo want money or not? I look at it but I'm uncertain because I don't know that.

Christian must be on a diet* - his usual cake consumption is conspicuous by its absence.

I am stunned to find this thread repeated on all Thailand gay forums. Why? Do you think that people only read only one forum?

What benefit is it to all those who may only read one forum just now and again.

You are carried away by your diligent recording of your spendthrift ways to the maximum degree.

Why does everyone from Timbuktoo to the never never, have to be exposed to your frugal ways,

...What did your Thai friend say when you gave him 3 baht?

This surely deserves to be a competition item - and Neal should put up a prize for the winning entry!

My suggestion: "Gee thanks, Christian - at least it's not another fucking Plastic Eiffel Tower!"

Great report Christian. Interesting you split half and half with moneybois. Someone as young as you could have more non-money bois if you desired but like me, you are a bit lazy. I totally understand. In fact the DJ station pickup did not work out so that was a waste of time. On vacation you can't beat a go-go imho.

How were the bois at Toy bois?, I'm thinking of going there in a few weeks.

I am stunned to find this thread repeated on all Thailand gay forums. Why? Why not? Not everyone reads all the boards. If you see it on another board then don't read it....simple enough.

You are carried away by your diligent recording of your spendthrift ways to the maximum degree. Why does everyone from Timbuktoo to the never never, have to be exposed to your frugal ways,Does spendthrift = frugal? News to me.

I don't thint christian is even trying my daily food budget starts with muesli - 150 baht for a bag from Tops that lasts two weeks 40 baht for milk bottle that last 3 or 4 days from 7-11 - and thats breakfast so that means maybe 20 bahrt for a newtricious brekky a day then for lunch or dinner depends which one I have with friends its two serves of fruit from the roadside stall 30 baht all up.

What have I spend so far is 50 baht for two very healthy and nutritious meals and my bowels are perfectly regular then once a day I might lash out for a set meal with one or other friend of the 299 or 399 baht variety if Im feeling very slef indulgent Ill have a coffee none of that Starbucks crap at 100 baht a cup but a bog standard clean Thai cafe or A Bon Pain maybe 50 or 60 baht a cup or maybe Ill just get some fried rice whats that 30 baht or something so if I didnt eat out Ive spend 130 baht a day something like that what rediciulos amounts of money people do spend just because there on holiday.

Thats what I call real making merit none of this supastitous Thai crap at temples but good clean simple living.

January 8th, 2013, 17:31
... my bowels are perfectly regular...

Yes, this is exactly the sort of high-class information we need more of on SGF - but you're too vague - can you be more precise as to what you deem "regular"?

If christianpfc wanted to tell us about his toilet habits, he'd be sure to indicate the mean frequency of his BMs and the quantity (either by volume or weight) and consistency (from 1-10) of his stool - so if you are hoping to rival him in the information stakes you'll need to up your game.

I knew this would keep you busy for a few days of my absence (travelling to Thailand and settling in).

Do you find that most of the men on Gay Romeo want money or not? I look at it but I'm uncertain because I don't know that.
I would estimate for me it's about 50/50.

I'm honestly genuinely curious. What did your Thai friend say when you gave him 3 baht?
I don't remember. The situation was the following: I didn't know that guy, we had a short chat and then he told me he wanted to buy some food or drink and he was lacking 3 Baht to pay for it, so I gave him 3 Baht. (Sometimes I can be quite generous, I didn't lend it to him, it was a gift.)

I am stunned to find this thread repeated on all Thailand gay forums. Why? Do you think that people only read only one forum?
I posted it only on three forums. To reach a broader audience, I open new topics usually on two forums.

@rocket: Toy Boys was good, I might go again.

@kittyboy: Hotels are named in my trip reports. In Bkk mainly Penguin House Sathorn and in Bkk mainly Two Guys Guesthouse. An increasing number of nights is spent staying at friends' places. (If sleep at their place and with them, I don't need a hotel room because I don't bring boys back.)

Small world: I was visiting a Farang friend D who does not read these boards and we were talking about a recent failed flying attempt of a Farang in his area which was a poster on gaytingtong (rhodochrosite, whose reports there did not match up with reality). One of D's friends reads the boards and was writing to D about this article, so D told me that there what kind of crazy people are on this board, whereupon I revealed my identity.

Two days ago I got a health certificate at Bangkok Christian Hospital: "... is in good physical and mental health, free from mental retardation ...".

January 11th, 2013, 15:52
Oh we know you're not mentally retarded, Christian, just ...............quirky

A friend of mine dosn't write down his expenses, but he estimates them to be around 200 Baht per day. He usually stays at other people's places while they are away and pays only water and electricity (if at all), doesn't drink or smoke, uses busses instead of taxis or BTS/MRT, goes to events that are free (preferrably with free food) like movies at Goethe institute or Alliance Francaise or art exhibitions, eats mainly Thai food (and most importantly does not meet moneyboys). Way to go!

(I am currently in Thailand and hope I can stay here for a year. Internet so far irregular in internet cafes, only important stuff like emails. I will have a lot of reading on the forums to catch up once I am settled in and I might post about expenses for living and working in Thailand with weekend trips all around Thailand.)

That way of living reminds me of an old joke :
A patient goes to his doctor and asks : "If I eat sparingly, never drink, never have sex with unknown persons, in short, never have fun, will I live longer ? "
And the good doctor answers : " There is no garantee you'll live longer, but I am sure even it your life is short, it will look very long !"

What is your purpose in life : have a big fat safe follow your coffin ?

Money is made to turn over, not to be kept.

I have no problem at all with 99% of what Christian writes. As some posters have already mentioned, his comprehensive breakdown of costs during his trips would be of great benefit to those who are travelling on a budget. And his photos of the places he visits are great.

However, there were 2 statements in his last post on thread that I thought were barely believable. Here they are:

Two days ago I got a health certificate at Bangkok Christian Hospital: "... is in good physical and mental health, free from mental retardation ...".

Note that Christian is quoting directly from the health certificate.

Would a medical practitioner at a very reputable hospital use the term "mental retardation"???

I can't imagine he would, as it is rather offensive and is not normal medical terminology.

Also, I imagine such a diagnosis would be made by a psychiatrist not a doctor, so did Christian go to the hospital and ask for a psychiatric report? Possible, of course.

I gave him 3 Baht. (Sometimes I can be quite generous, I didn't lend it to him, it was a gift.)

Come on! Christian describing himself as "generous" all because he gave the boy 3 baht?? And then rubbing it in by stating that he actually gave the boy the money and did not consider it a loan (which usually has to be paid back.) Even for someone as careful with money as Christian, that just doesn't ring true. He's having a bit of a laugh.

So that's why I think he is having a lend of us.

But you can, of course, believe what you want.

Up2u.

Probably not, but I think this medical certificate is a standard Thai immigration form and does use that terminology. Can't prove it - I believe I've seen the form but can't locate it now.

a447
January 29th, 2013, 13:24
Thanks for that info, Ceejay. Seems very strange terminology nevertheless.

It reminds me of the signs they had at Immigration at Narita Airport in Tokyo for many years. Queues for "Japanese" and the rest of us were classified as "aliens"!!!

Jellybean
January 29th, 2013, 13:44
I think the United States also classifies the rest of us as тАЬaliensтАЭ a447.

I remember being in San Diego with two friends, one of whom was 20 and could not therefore enter a bar and have a drink. So we spent every night going across the Mexican border to Tijuana just to get a drink! Every night my friends and I had to line up in the queue headed тАЬAliensтАЭ. I remember saying to a grumpy looking US Immigration Officer, тАЬIтАЩm not an alien, IтАЩm British!тАЭ . . . think I was a bit pie-eyed at the time! : )

I qouted exactly from my medical certificate. I did not ask for a psychological report, just a health certificate as it is required when applying for a work permit.

The story with the 3 Baht is true, giving it as a gift instead of a loan and describing this as "being generous" is making fun of you. Everything I post is true, sometimes I embellish it for fun.

Oh, silly Sooty! Your inability to comprehend posters' comments is on show yet again. Ceejay said he thought that that was the terminology used on the form, not that it definitely was.

Remember what I said about you making yourself look ridiculous?

Here goes again....sigh

Proving once again a447's total ignorance of Thailand and all things Thai.

I notice you didn't provide the answer, so I guess you must be as ignorant as me. :sign5:

Funny that. I thought that with your superior knowledge of all things Thai, you would have jumped in immediately and cleared it up for us in the post above, rather than have a go at me.

In fact you could have done both in the same post! Now we have to wait until you can come up with the answer. :(

Sure do! I just love the way Sooty finds it impossible to comment on a thread without being negative about someone.
I also love the way he makes sweeping criticism of posters then is unable to substantiate that criticism.

Sooty, it's a simple case of put up or shut up. Back up your criticism with facts and if you don't have any facts, then don't criticise. It's not rocket science.

I mean, I'm still waiting for examples of how I have demonstrated "total ignorance" of all things Thai. I asked you a couple of months ago to respond to a similar statement of yours and you couldn't.

So Sooty, I guess you still don't know the answer to the wording on the medical form.

You assume wrong. You are the one who "doesn't get it."

As someone who has only been a member of this board for 3 days, how could you possibly make a meaningful comment on this?

Unless, of course, you have gone over all our previous posts over the years in those 3 days. But obviously you haven't, otherwise you'd have come across this comment I made to Sooty:

you know I don't mind a bit of to and fro.....

So it has nothing to do with yanking anyone's chain. (I wonder where you got that expression from?? :sign5: )

It's about asking posters to cease stupid unsubstantiated criticism and just comment on the original poster's question or the content of a poster's reply. (I note that you had nothing to say on this.)

That is what Neal has been attempting to do with the board but there are still 2 or 3 posters who, like you, "don't get it."

If every reply to a poster's criticism is seen as "having your chain yanked," then why bother asking for comments to be backed by facts?? Some (you, perhaps?) maybe happy with not seeking justification of such negative comments, and good luck to you. To each his own.

But I'm not.

I like that budget , it could work for me

Not everyone is loaded with money like atri I think his forum name was, travelling on business class, staying in hotel suites and tipping boys triple what I can afford.

I always travel economy class, but I'm not a cheap charlie. 700 for a room is perfect , you only need a comfy bed and a shower.
