One of the many Thai for Thai gay websites is www.gboysiam.com (http://www.gboysiam.com) Beside advertisement for gay porn and penis enlargements, there is an area with profiles with pictures.

One of the profiles was appealing to me*, so I called the number when I was in Thailand three weeks ago. The person who answered did not speak English and did not understand my Thai, but handed the phone to someone else who spoke English. I asked about the age (the question was translated into Thai and forwarded to someone else in the room, the reply was tranlated into English and mateched the age in the profile тАУ I did this just to check if everything is allright) and we agreed to meet in 20 minutes at the 7-eleve opposite Malaysia and Ibis Sathorn hotel.

As (insert name of your choice) used to say: if it sounds too good to be true, it probably isnтАЩt true. Knowing about possible delays, I did this call before a visit to an internet cafe where I could spend an hour or more waiting time. I just sat down and the time was running, when a call came in: тАЮDo you want one boy or two boys?тАЬ (At that point I knew where this was heading тАУ I am sometimes slow in the uptake.) тАЮI only want the boy in the picture.тАЬ тАЮHow much do you pay?тАЬ тАЮ500 Baht for short time.тАЬ тАЮSorry, not enough. 1000.тАЬ тАЮI want to meet the boy first.тАЬ тАЮCan you pay 1000?тАЬ тАЮSorry, cannot. Bye.тАЬ (All this in the internet cafe, for everyone to hear.) Money is not the issue, I would have paid 1000 (after meeting the boy), but I thought this website is non-commercial and I cannot commit to paying 1000 without meeting the boy first and there might be further misunderstandings about time and location.

There are plenty of profiles offering massage, so I assume gboysiam is a commercial (i.e. prostitution) website. Do others have experience with gboysiam or similar website?

Surely that must have been a clue that it was "commercial"?

Presumably if he turns up and you like him/ keep him you pay the 1000B.
If however you don't like him or he is not the boy in the photo then you don't pay 1000B - you give him a small tip (maybe 200B if he's come a distance) and send him on his way the same as any other boy.

You say you don't mind paying 1000B if you like him and I don'e see how getting him to meet up "commits" you in any way - so what's the issue here?

Hardly a mountain! Just a little anecdote about a guy from Gboysiam. As Christian wrote, he realised when he was asked if he wanted one boy or two,and before money was mentioned, that it was likely to be a commercial transaction, so I don't know why you're making a "mountain" out of that point, when you can't even get the timeline right!

Some may have known about this site previously, more do now. Sharing experiences, that's the point isn't it?

Christian, it is obvious to me that this is a commercial site. these sites take pics of their hottest guy and run them for years and send anyone that may be similar to the boy in the pic and sometimes not even similar. I dare say that the agency I called, (thought similar that it was a boy) sent someone and although not the one in the picture turned out to be an all time winner that i saw all week.

The problem I see here though is that you should have dropped it right away as you only wanted to pay 500 and they were quite clear that the fee was 1,000. So why were you so distrught to do this write up? I could understand if you said yes to the 1,000 and the boy that showed up was not the boy in the picture and then they still wanted 1000 for him showing up. Many times when you call these services the boy that shows up tries his sales ability to convince you to still go with him and as I said earlier in the post, in Shanghai I was just too happy to oblige, although not the boy in the pic, he was hot!

I can accept some tattoos, others (depending on motif and location) are inacceptable. That one is acceptable, and his complexion is perfect. And no hair where it does not belong. But I digress.

I post most topics in two forums to reach a wider readership.

Sending another boy - I didn't think about that when I refused the offer, but let me include this in my worst case scenario: dozens of phone calls and messages later, hours late and kilometers away from the origial meeting point (I am talking of experience), I meet someone else from this agency who is not my type but still wants 1000 Baht just for coming (coming, not cumming).

The bit I don't get Christian, is the "expect 1000B just for coming" - I don't think that's the case at all.

If it's not the boy from the pic who shows up (or if you don't like him for some reason) , you're not obliged to pay 1000B - and if you wanted to be nice about it, just give him travelling expenses and a moderate tip.

If trivial posts are jumped on, dissected and judged, as has been the case in this thread, then that is a massive disincentive from making personal contributions. Where the know alls dominate, there is little room for dialogue.

When you say looking at other "boards", where else has this been posted other than Gaybutton? Then I can compare them also, but having now visited Gaybutton, it's clear that the responses there are made in a positive way, confirming ways by which one might reasonably guess whether guys from sites like this are rent or not, and thoughts on an appropriate payment. There is no lecturing or putdowns, not even from Gaybutton!

I was naive and thought the boys on the website are for free. When I realized I was wrong, there was not enough time to think how much time (waiting) and money I would want to spend.

I don't know if information is lost in translation (I talked in English on the phone to the manager (?) who translated to the boy in Thai), and if you can order "for inspection" or, like a pizza service, you have to pay the full price even if you change your mind. I think the idea that the boy wants 1000 Baht just for coming (even if nothing else has happened) is not out of world.

Come on, this is Thai for Thai, on Saranrom the going rate is 500 (plus travel expenses), so I think the 1000 quoted to me is a fair price. I would not call it a good deal (as suggested by Neal and Gaybutton).
