So I wasnt aware that Pattaya has been formally adopted as a Russian state but judging from the amount of Russians on Jomtiem beach today it appears so !! If it keeps up at this rate of all pale skinned skinny Russians and no cute brown skinned Thai guys I'm writing to the Thai government and demanding a refund !! :-(

Any cute ones? I've spotted a few at Jomtien. Unfortunately, they were not available.

I remember last year when I went to G.U.Y.S on Walking Street. The boys there were learning Russian! One had a well-thumbed Russian phrase book.

Any bar info?

Russians are everywhere they usually are fat , loud, drinking beer in the street, rude and pushee, what I can't figure out is why Pattaya? They come as families, or straight couples. The beaches are less than second rate, it looks like Coney Island, I know why I came why do they?

Why do they come is a good question. I suspect rock bottom prices for large groups of them to arrive in Pattaya on budget airlines and stay in budget hotels. Many get here via the local Pattaya airport if not BKK. They have hot weather compared to their Siberia winters and when in Pattaya they can be amongst their own loud mouthed beer swilling obese uneducated ignoramous comrades who mostly all refuse to and cannot speak either English or Thai. They are without doubt the rudest and most uncouth nationality on earth.
Those with a few roubles to spare will buy some tiny studio in a high rise housing block in Pattaya so they can cram in at least 7/8 of their own into one room.

You will have heard the expression cheap charlie: well the Russian are getting the name cheap czar-lies and most Thais hate them. Big hoteliers, budget airlines, estate agents and similar businesses want them for one reason only and I need not spell that out.

Surely the next question is how to live in Pattaya and ignore them? is that possible?
- Russian free zones would be welcomed.

all of my 15yrs in pattaya, i never seen as many weirdos, nutters or crazy people than anywhere in the world has, or the stories you read in the pattaya newspaper i should be shocked to read, but its everyday life here! why do they come i dont know, maybe becauses they are so f*cked up that they cannot make a true relationship with man or lady so they have to buy a pretend one here? so whats wrong with a few more russsians with attitude problems!!!

I'm sure there are good guys and bad guys in every group. Certainly we Americans can be fat, obnoxious, and drunks. My first visit to Pattaya in 1991 the bars were so pleasant and the guys were friendly. What I missed when I visited briefly earlier this year was the signs in English. It didn't feel welcoming in entire 'hoods with just Thai (which I hardly read) and Russian (which I don't read at all).

Yea....But don't the russian boys look good in their speedos? Pattaya Park is usually full of speedo clad guys during the winter months.

Is prejudice any more acceptable when the victims are Russian than when they are Black or Jewish?

While certainly there are some "fat, loud" ones, there are also some totally ripped, smokin' hot young Russians around as well. I was drooling all over the place when I was there. And of course there are plenty of fat Germans, Brits, Americans, etc. in Pattaya as well.

December 27th, 2012, 09:20
And so to go back to my original point - damn it where are all the lovely cute slim brown skinned hit Thai guys that I come here to drool over :-(. Yes several of the above posters are correct it's not "just Russians" who are many of things already mentioned as every other country has their fair share too - I just happened to be surrounded ( quite literally) by Russians when sending my post - so I stand by my OP - more hot Thais please or I want my money back !!! :-)

And just to balance things out I SWEAR if that American asshole who wears his white women's to to skirt or whatever the hell it is minces past me one more time with his fake campiness I SWEAR I'm going to get up and insert one of these beach umbrellas where the sun don't shine - and then open it !!! What an annoying twat !!

Is he deliberately doing that to make fun of you?

if so, next time he appears, just remind him that gays get more sex than straights. It's one of the benefits of being gay.

December 27th, 2012, 11:13
Oh no this guy is gay gay gay ( or at least wants to appear so) I believe many other posters already know him perhaps and he's a well known figure in the beach etc but i only wirnessed his put on "show" yesterday, so but he wears his women's swimming skirt thing and then overly and hugely minces up and down in front of all the various beach sections and when he gets a / any response he struts even more camply / annoyingly to his audience.

And don't get me wrong I'm all for people being as camp as they are no problem, but when its as fake and put in as he is its almost offensive to watch as a gay guy ( IMHO) especially when loads of str8 and families and sitting there and saying to each other " ah so THAT'S what gays are like, I KNEW it" :-(

I wouldn't care but I saw him half an hour later at shops and the mince was all but gone so he's obviously just getting his kicks being a massive OTT queen in front of everyone - and again up to him and all that - but also up to me to choose which way I'd like to insert the unbrella as he's just plain annoying as he overtly demands attention :-)

I don't even need the description further than the one you gave! He is here once or twice a year, usually stays at the Cafe Royale and does not believe in ordering any drinks when she is in the bar with her friends and when she does, she does not believe in paying the bill! How many times I was at the bar and I had to send doormen after her!!
White hot pants, was she fake blonde and walks like her shit was made in heaven.

Personally I think she does it on purpose so as t throw out a fishing line to straight boys. :dontknow:

December 27th, 2012, 17:04
If some people are annoyed or offended by the way someone else chooses to dress or walk, then with great respect I have to throw it out there that maybe it's the offendees who ought to modify their attitudes?

I mean, for how long does anybody have to look at this guy as he minces past - 30 seconds, a minute out of your life at most?

Isn't being intolerant exactly what we used to (or still) accuse str8 people of?

:dontknow: :dontknow:

**Not buying drinks/not paying the bill is a different matter - I'm surprised Neal seems to have let "her" do it a few times, twice would be enough for me to permanently ban her - :sign5:

December 27th, 2012, 17:34
No I disagree SG, if someone "is" camp etc, no problem, I can "tolerate" that all day, but if someone's prancing in my face looking for a reaction well they may just get that reaction, that's not me being intolerant just me pointing out to them that rather than being funny or cool I consider them to be a dick and they can take themselves out of my face anytime they want ASAP - and I should add that I didn't implant said umbrella up his ass so I consider my actions the perfection of tolerance itself ! :-)

December 27th, 2012, 17:47
Fucksake NIrish, I wouldn't like to burn your toast in the morning

December 27th, 2012, 18:37
It was just a throw away comment SG, no need to take everything SO seriously :-) - and you're right burnt toast is a whipable offence !! :-)

The most obnoxious and vulgar individuals I've encountered during travels in Southeast Asia have been British, Australian and American males, and some of them were even gay.

pattayeski I thought was about russian men not a bitch session. the best view of russian men on jomtien beach is go north past pattaya park to the next beach around. there are a number of hotels and condos and that is where the families go. might be slim pickings to start with as they do not know where to go ,but they fill those speedoes handsomely.

Well I'm sticking to my guns here as I sat last night in boystown with a full on party going on everywhere, people dancing in the street, music blaring, drink flying - me and a Thai guy and about 20 Russians sitting all around us and I can say without a doubt they were the grumpiest, most dour faced pack of sods you could ever have encountered, it was like they were going out of their way NOT to enjoy themselves, all busy sitting there trying to look "hard" and aloof for fear of actually enjoying themselves instead of looking like they were about to go into battle somewhere - and my god this is GAY Russians we're taking about ! Can you imagine what a night in a straight Russian bar must be like - god someone hand me a knife so I can cut my wrists now and be done with it !

In their defense ( if they have one) my Thai friend said that its because they don't understand Thai music and if the bar puts on Russian music they do get up and dance - personally I think that's a lot of crap as by that logic farang wouldnt be up partying or dancing either, so no, im sorry they're just a big bunch of repressed tough guy, full of shit Jessie's, who need to learn to relax and lighten the fuck up and perhaps get down and get a bit of a groove on to some Kylie or something !!

There I've said it and I just don't care !! Lol

Ps SG - I'll let you be the one to tell them all if the above if that's ok just in case they don't take it to well !! :-)

Well yes, some people say it is a predjudice and I guess in ways it is but I neve fell guilty of telling my story. 3 Russians cam into the bar escorted by a "guide" from walking street. They sat down had some drinks and then asked when was the show. It was after 10:30 and at that time there was only the one show. They started to leave when we presented them with the bill for their drinks. They replied no show, no pay. We said NO we did not promise you a show and you can bring it up with your guide but we need to get paid for your three beers. PS this is Christmas eve night. At that time they started whispering and then took their glasses and beer bottles and threw them at the mirrors breaking them and closing the br on Christmas eve while we had to sit with the police and investigate. In the end the police collected 600 baht for us. Wowwie!

I ask you why every beach section and almost every bar collects immeadiately when something is served and only to Russians? Can it be because they all have a reputation of slinking out the door without paying?? Yes, the Russians and that toosie guy who drssed today in that little Shirly Temple skirt to draw attention. She doesn't like to pay either!! I sent the boys after her to collect. Only once did she pull that and she is not welcome in my old bar! :laughing3:

Interesting story Neal.

I have to say that I saw the same type of thing at GUY club late one night. Falang that didn't want to pay for his drink (looked and sounded Russian to me) and had to be "convinced" to find his wallet. He was also rather drunk. Wonder what it is about Russians and bar tabs.... :dontknow:

NIrish....Keep up your spirits..don't let the Russians get you down
If you are still in Pattayeski in a week or so, I will even buy you a drink :alc:

December 28th, 2012, 16:59
Well I leave Pattaya on the 2nd for bkk so I'm yer man - and re Russians don't worry they won't dampen my spirits - actually I'm thinking that I should embrace their oddness and if I can't beat em I should just fuck em and get it over with ! Although as their approaches seem to be somewhat basic it may take a while - me standing in NAB the other night and some odd ball looking Russian guy, complete with a nap sack thing on his back ( in a night club!!) sideled up to me and growled "Russian", now I wasn't sure whether this was a statement or question so opted for the question route so said "no Irish" to which his next chat up line was the single word "active" - and again what with me not being sure if it was a statement or question I figured I'd better not risk getting that one wrong so just said "good for you" and walked away praying he wasnt following me !!! :-)

The number of Low Life's of all nationalities in Pattaya has gotten so bad of late, I really don't enjoy visiting there anymore. Thankfully, they haven't seemed to have discovered Krabi and some of the other southern beach areas.

December 31st, 2012, 10:11
Cameron I gotta say you're bang on there re the vastly increased number of low life's in Pattaya just now ( don't worry I leave shortly so the situation will improve somewhat shortly no doubt lol) but in all seriousness I don't know whether its just as its high season and busy here or not but the number of visable scum bags has massively increased from any previous trip I've been on here before and it REALLY will make me consider Pattaya as a return destination just so quickly in future - and if so certainly not for such a long time as two or three weeks ever again.

I took a walk down walking street at 1am last night and OMG it was like growler alley !! The number of pissed up, lager lout mentality, totally out of order, rude, obnoxious muscle guys and their fishwife girlfriends was just astounding - I witnessed one ape when asked by a VERY old and frail flower seller Karon dressed style old woman take off her pearly necklaces and also try to choke her with them, them threw them at her and both he and his low life girlfriend walked away laughing, leaving the old woman genuinely frightened and shook up - and they thought that was acceptable behavioir rather than saying a simple no thank you - bloody animals the pair of them :-(

I'm probably heading to the pier tonight for the new years eve party there with a cute young guy I found laat night and for the first time I am seriously debating not going there at all and sticking to NAB etc as I'm not so sure what with all those knuckle draggers and Co congregrated in the one place that no matter what the Thai police do it will be safe environment as even last night you could feel the tension / aggression in the air ( and I can assure you in no wilting wallflower in the regard and am not easily intimidated).

I think it's going to be "interesting" over the next 3-5 years to see where Pattaya goes direction wnd outcome wise as if City Hall / TOT aren't very careful they're going to end up with a very different (even more) low end resort perhaps than the place they had hoped and tried to plan for ! :-(

Walking street at that time of night, especially in high season, is somewhere I would not venture. Too many drunk yobos.

And to be honest, I doubt I'd go to the pier tonight also.
Same reason. And where I come from, New Years Eve could be renamed Drunks Night Out.
Highly overrated!

NIrish, unfortunately, the Neanderthals continue their crass and uncouth behaviour when they return to their hotels as well. It irks me to no end when department managers report a guest who has publicly insulted or berated a member of staff, because he or she is either too drunk to know better, or is just lacking in any kind of etiquette. The vast majority of these situations tend to be Russian guests, but not exclusively. Let me state that three of my best and dearest friends in Pattaya are Russians, who are truly amazing guys. They are many times also embarrassed by the antics of their fellow countrymen.

I have no idea where tourism in Pattaya is headed but the current trend is a bit worrisome. The low fare airline and hotel packages rescued many tourist businesses in the city from folding in what have been some lean high seasons of late. The calibre of tourists it attracts though has caused concern for a great number of people, indeed.

I will also be at NAB tonight at some point with my friends, if all go as planned, and hope to have just a relaxing and enjoyable time to bring in the new year. And thanks for your entertaining and humorous posts. They made my usually boring end of financial year desk bound December a little more exciting. All the best, mate and keep coming back to Pattaya for new adventures.
