Trip report Baan Sukhawadee Nakluea

Baan Sukhawadee (р╕Ър╣Йр╕▓р╕Щр╕кр╕╕р╕ Вр╕▓р╕зр╕Фр╕╡) is a palace-like complex in North Pattaya / Nakluea between Sukhumvit road and the sea, near Cholchan Hotel.

I noticed this before (the buildings are in light blue and pink) when travelling by bus between Pattaya and Bangkok, but a Thai friend told me тАЮcannot enterтАЬ, so I put the issue aside. But then I came across it on the internet and found out that you can visit!

17.09.2012 Monday Ko Sichang to Pattaya

Leave Ko Sichang and take ferry to Sri Ratcha (50 Baht, 9:00 тАУ 9:45), tuk-tuk to bus station (60 Baht), bus to Pattaya (30 Baht, 10:05-10:55). Bus stops on Sukhumvit road in south Pattaya, more convenient than the north Pattaya bus station. Motorcycle to Two Guys Guesthouse (50 Baht). Meet a friend A from previous holiday for dinner and cinema (The Expendables 2), A stays overnight.

We take Baht-bus to Sukhumvit (2x10 Baht) and another one to Baan Sukhawadee (13:25-13:40, 2x20 Baht, A asked the driver to confirm that he passes Baan Sukhawadee). Entry is 300 Baht for Farang and 150 Baht for Thai.

An eclectic mix of styles!

That was a perfect night and day I spent with A (dinner, cinema, тАЮdeepening Thai-German friendship and increasing mutual cultural understandingтАЬ, sightseeing the following day).

We return to my hotel and A goes back to his room (or rather to a Thai friendтАЩs place where he stays). So we part, I have an appointment for dinner with Bruce_NYC and his two boyfriends anyway. At night, I do bar hopping in Boyztown and Sunee (after four days without!), but I donтАЩt find anyone, furthermore it starts to rain, so I go home alone. I should have made an appointment to meet A again.

The Bangkok Post article includes a link to a demolition order for the mansion. It gave them 15 days to comply.
Is this the same place?
If so suspicious to say the least.

I enjoyed an afternoon trip here a few years ago. Cheap entry to the show with mediocre buffet (250THB) but something different to while away an afternoon. I recognised some of the dancers there that also work in the cabaret shows shown in town in the evenings. I guess that sadly this may mean 2 income streams now lost in these times.
