PC Air in financial trouble only ten months after launch
22 October 2012 | By Anna Leach

PC Air made headlines in December last year when the Thai airline launched with transgender flight attendents, but now they are nearly going out of business.

After talks with the Department of Civl Aviation on Friday, ThailandтАЩs deputy transport minister Chadchart Sittipunt announced the airlineтАЩs flights are being suspended, at least until the end of the month, but the government are not revoking their licence.

тАШThe airline informed the Department of Civil Aviation on Friday that they cannot operate their charter flights due to business problems. So it will suspend its services,тАЩ Sittipunt told AFP.

PC AirтАЩs only plane was grounded last Tuesday at Incheon International Airport in South Korea because of unpaid airport charges, leaving 400 passengers stranded. This was due to a dispute with their Korean agent Skyjet.

Before the budget airline launched last year sole properietor Peter Chan, a former flight attendant himself, was so confident he boasted buying the airbus right out rather than leasing it.

'Today, we are ready to embark on the new journey and we would like to introduce our four transsexual angels,' Chan told passengers, including officials and journalists, before the maiden voyage in early December 2011.

The four transgender flight attendants had to meet the same requirements (тАШfeminine voiceтАЩ) and training (make-up lessons) as female staff.

Does PC Air stand for "politically correct".....?

Something tells me that most of today's airlines require that all MALE flight attendants meet the same requirements (тАШfeminine voiceтАЩ) and training (make-up lessons) as female staff.

no. Those short combo's are very common here. For a long time there was PB-air (owned by Singh beer).
But this airline did NOt stop-they were after all allowed to carry on, as otherwise the burden to carry the stranded pax backl would even be higher and they had no way to gain any money either.

No, in the well-honoured spirit of self-promotion it stands for the name of the owner Peter Chan.

Echoing the national carrier's delusion that passengers are in the least interested in the social standing of the cabin crew's family, Mr Chan insisted in meeting the mothers and fathers of would-be ladyboy cabin crew before they could be hired, to make sure they were the "right" sort of people. I remember him declaring in a UK TV programme that it would be "impossible" for any ladyboy who had ever worked in a go-go bar for example, to join his airline. Maybe he was afraid of an impromptu ping-pong show breaking out as the plane made its final descent.

I've always believed that a truly professional crew member should always make his or her final decent .... then calmly sneak back out of the restroom, one person at a time.... being very careful that no one notices... long before landing. Waiting until landing to make his/her final decent is likely to cost him/her their job... not to mention the possibility of leaving unfinished business in the restroom. That's just inconsiderate service.
