Man... All these reckless smash ups occasioning deaths around Asia aren't giving Ferrari a good name.

Nice to see a Thai cop take a stand for what's right though.

Bangkok's top police official, Lieutenant General Comronwit Toopgrajank, said he took charge of the investigation after a lower-ranking policeman initially tried to cover up the crime by turning in a bogus suspect.

Comronwit led a team of officers to search the compound of late Red Bull founder Chaleo Yoovidhaya, one of Thailand's wealthiest men before he passed away this year, and confiscated a Ferrari with a badly damaged front bumper and broken windshield.

--

Comronwit said he suspended the police officer who attempted to subvert the investigation.
"A policeman is dead. I can't let this stand. If I let this case get away, I'd rather quit," he told reporters.

"I don't care how powerful they are. If I can't get the actual man in this case, I will resign."

Yes a great stand by the police chief, but its what happens in court later that is going to be the true test. Remember the underage girl (no license) who rammed a van sending its occupants over an expressway wall onto the road below, killing quite a few of them? Suspended sentence... she should be doing time.

Wasn't there similar "accident" a few years ago when an upper- class youth (what we call a "hooray-henry" in the UK) drove his car into a line of ordinary citizens waiting for a bus? Was he ever punished or did his dad buy him off?

He's 27? When I saw this photo, I thought he was more like 15.

Rainbow, your last 3 posts have all involved people being arrested or incarcerated or people you think should be incarcerated - is this some kind of prison fetish, or have you simply been watching too many old Death Wish movies?

Rainbow never got over his encounters with Jean Genet.

"Jean Genet is a criminal and a pornographer," shrilled all the proper Parisiens. "Jean Genet is a saint," declared Jean-Paul Sartre, high priest of French existentialism. "I am a pederast and a thief," said Jean Genet.

"Lock him up and throw the key away!" said Rainbow.

I have to say that despite hoping for the best, and whilst I acknowledge that many consider him a genius, I personally find Jean Genet's work heavy going.

I don't claim to be a highbrow reader - I found Marc Almond's "In Search of the Pleasure Palace" much more accessible - especially since I've been in many of the dives he refers to :sign5:

Any human that hits someone would stop and try to help the victim. This "creature" continued to drive forward with the motorbike in front with the poor guy being dragged down the street!!!!!!!!!!!!! To show our disgust, there should be a boycott in drinking Redbull !!!!

I don't drink that crap anyway. These energy drinks M 50 or whatever, Red Bull and the rest are pure sugar or caffine and just shit to make you speed for awhile.
You or someone older that you know drinks it? No the boys do cause it wakes them up and they see their friends drink it and it looks good on TV :violent1:

I haven't seen red bull, but quite a few taxi drivers BKK-Pattaya have a bottle or two of M50.

While I know that it is shameful to dislike the guy just because he is rich, I do hope he is punished severely for his crime. As someone above pointed out he was not interested in the welfare of the person he hit and just ran home to "daddy" when he did this. The rich in Thailand think they are above the law and too often this is correct.

There was a recent article on ThaiVisa about how the Thai "Rich" rarely suffer jail terms for serious crimes. I find it ironic that the young Thai girl that killed all those people in a van, got a 7 year drivers license suspension. Like that's going to keep her from driving. She didn't even have a license when she had the accident! Daddy gave her a brand new Honda Civic but apparently bothering to make her get a license was too much trouble.

''Mu Ham Pachimsawat, son of a former Miss Thailand and related to a former deputy police chief, was sentenced to 10 years and one month in jail for ramming his Mercedes into a crowd at a bus stop in 2007, killing a woman and injuring several others. This was another case that brought much public outrage.
He was released on bail pending appeal, but then in January 2009 he was also accused of smashing a rock in the face of a bus driver near Sukhumvit Soi 26 after his car was involved in a minor incident with the bus. Now 23 years old, he's still not in prison for any crime."

Motoring organisations actually recommend that you carry a can of Red Bull, or something similar, in the car. That way, if you find yourself drifting off into sleep on a long journey where it is impossible or dangerous to pull over (e.g. between exits on a motorway) you can get a brief temporary energy boost from the drink that will keep you awake until you reach a place of safety.

Thailand could be such a wonderful place. As it is, the reason I put up with this mess is good, cheap sex -- what a recommendation for a country!

Before remonstrating with me ask yourself why you came to Thailand.

Yes I know, Thai Airways is ready when I am, but you couldn't blast me out of here with dynamite.
