I always find Sir David Tang's weekly column in the Financial Times well worth reading.

This week: How do you give a spark to the bored birthday sentences? Just hand over some extremely expensive presents.

David Tang is certainly used to receiving wealthy presents! In 1989 his grandfather, one of Kong Kong's Chinese entrepreneurs, left him US$5 million. Since then, he has hobnobbed regularly with royalty and prominent actors and actresses, in between setting up various business ventures. Many feel he is far more British than the Brits!
