Surat Thani City--any gay life?

I will be in ST City the next 2 nights. I am not optimistic that there will be much gay life there, though online there are for sure some contacts who are eager and willing.
Are there any gay bars, boy bars, etc?
I am currently in Samui (Bophut beach area) and can't stand being around so many Europeans--I didn't come 10,000 miles to sit with a bunch of Russian and Dutch kids at the beach! :D I prefer to be around Thai folks... so I'm happily going back to ST for a couple nights before heading to BKK on Tuesday.

Sure you will not see many farangs there as those who happen to be in town seem to have only one obsession : going elsewhere.

No gay bar as far as I know ; you could try the promenade along the river (though I never met anyone there).
