View Full Version : Buying clothes in Thailand

I just came home from a day of shopping... Well... I went to Atlanta for a week and spend every day at a different shopping center looking for fashion finds. I went to the bars just one night and ever night after that was hitting all the malls and stores with the aid of my Iphone and GPS. Thanks to the Iphone, I can ask Siri where the closest TJ Maxx is and it will list them for me with the closest one at the top. I loved it and my bags were bulging when I arrived at the airport.

The problem is that I can't stop shopping! After I make this post I will jump in the car and head out to another clothing store to do more shopping.

I am writing this post because when I was putting away all my new clothes, I came across a large pile of new clothes I purchased in Thailand that I was saving for summer but have yet to wear. Summer is here now but I want to wear the latest clothes I purchased and many of my Thai clothes are going unused and unworn. I think there is maybe one pair of pants from Thailand that I wear often and one shirt that always draws compliments but for the most part I have thousands of baht in clothes that are going unused and taking up space in my closet and storage shelf.

One thing I enjoy doing is packing light when I travel to Thailand and buying clothes to wear when I am there, but I think this time I am going to bring what I need and just buy one or two things in Thailand, you know, the must have items. With luck I won't waste all this money on unused clothing.

The reason is that clothes shopping is much better (and much cheaper when you consider quality and fashion) in the US, especially in a city like Atlanta, than in Thailand.
You are on to a good plan. Bring clothes here.
I live in Thailand and use trips to the US to shop for clothes!

I don\\\'t know what bucknaway\\\'s point was in making his original post, but he seems to say he spends lots of money on clothes that he doesn\\\'t wear. Pure waste is my response. I think it\\\'s a fair response.

I walk into Siam Paragon, and they have closes you can not have of find in Europe.
Just go into the department store in Paragon.

July 15th, 2012, 06:25
I have some favorites from Domon. Namely the Nikko's underwear. I don't think the Thai pay much attention to the labels that I wear when I am there and for the past 6 months I have been working out in the gym for 3 hours a day 4 days a week and I hope that will help the guys ignore what I am wearing and think more about undressing me.

For now, I am going to ignore the regular insult posters who haunt the board waiting for a post to be place so they can lighten their burden through nasty insults.... Oh well....

Justify? Sorry, I moved on and am now just having a back and forth conversation. Just because something is posted does not mean it is stuck in time. Life and events move on.

Yes, I'm back but I will run out to WalMart soon to pick up some hangers.

One thing I just noticed is that I can't find any of the Silk Robes I got in Thailand. I use to have them all over the place but not anymore....

On the contrary, it is the OP, bucknaway, who makes himself out to be an elitist snob when he claims he can find few clothes that meet his demanding taste in Thailand. Doesn\'t sound very much like a \"proud working man, fish sauce of the earth\" to me. Rather more like a prissy queen, full of himself.

martin911
July 15th, 2012, 21:28
Why does it have to be a troll feeding frenzy as you call it ?????--
I am cert no troll (thats what the thai boys say anyway ,and we all know they dont tell us fake compliments ) -note the light humour put in so as to try and engage Buck into thinking that all in the world are not against him and his specialist subject

Does it not strike you NOW after reading the comments that mabye just mabye its simply this -- not many (any ) here when reading your post about how you like shopping/new clothes etc -but that you have so many you dont have time to wear them all (but you want to buy even more ) -that its looks a little vulgar/narcissistic/ a tad boring even ?????
I wont even be as bold as to suggest that mabye there are others less well off as yourself that mabye they would benefit if they were to receive the excess you dont wear -because i reckon you are the type of person who DOES give to needy causes (more needy than you i mean )

Most guys have ZERO interest in shopping (nothing wrong with it per say -thats just our genitic makeup i think )

Come on try to engage on this properly Buck and not hide behind the tired old "troll" line -- that was one of beachs favourite bursts of vomit from time to time when he didnt like to be contradicted over something he posted :hiding:

Dont go down to his level --you are worth so much more ,you know you are !!

Sorry, but the trolls came out and acted in a trollish fashion so what more can be said?

Am I supposed to argue with them over the facts that I have clothes from Thailand that I have not worn yet? No. I'm not.

Should I argue with them because I enjoy shopping? No.

Should I argue with them over anything? No.

I am just going to continue to enjoy life and enjoy being me.

Let me be me, and let the trolls be trolls. :salute:

I never knew Atlanta was in Delaware, is it the capital?

bucknaway
July 16th, 2012, 01:12
Thanks Manforallseasons, no Atlanta is in Georgia. I went to Atlanta Georgia for some work related training and found that the place is packed with stores and malls all over the place. I was hooked on shopping once I ventured into a TJ Maxx store to buy a work shirt and found an original Prada shirt on the clearance rack for $5.00. The size was too big for me but once I knew such deals could be had I was hooked. From that point on I used my Iphone and GPS to take me to as many stores as I could stand. The best part is that I spent a fraction of the money I had set aside for clothes shopping.

That was the good thing about Atlanta, the bad thing about Atlanta is the Southern softness of the guys. I like the manly type of guy and I am told that I carry myself in a manly fashion and this tends to have bottom/fem guys approach me. The night I went to the bar in Atlanta I found myself having to repeat over and over again "Sorry, I am a bottom" to far too many guys. One guy would not take no for an answer and ended up spending the night with me after he claimed to be too drunk to drive and pleaded with me to let him sleep it off at my hotel.

Well we slept together and nothing happened till morning. He complained of a sore back and one thing led to another and I was giving him a Thai style "Oil" Massage. It was on the level till his underwear came off and mine fell to the floor and before he knew it I was sliding my naked body up and down his naked body, I even did it in reverse fashion were I was facing his feet while sliding up and down his body just as I experienced in Thailand. He loved it and I even gave him a happy ending. When it was all said and done he admitted that he was a bottom also. I had a feeling he was but he would not admit to it in the bar.

Although I enjoyed my time with him, I didn't want to go through the bar scene again because it was too much work and I didn't want to hurt anyone's feelings. I say that because many guys thought I was lying about being a bottom. (Sigh).

So I spent my time after my time training by hitting the stores and outlet stores.

One thing for sure about Atlanta, I have never seen so many black and latino gay guys in my life :)

I, same as Bucky, an aficionado of haute couture do all my shopping at the finest shops including La Friperie, L' Arm├йe du Salut and, for sure, La Cible. A trip to Paris or New York City is not necessary, there must be such boutiques in Delaware?

We have an Abercrombie & Fitch here in Delaware... Oh and Sears.. And a Target, so we got that working for us too.

But the moment I get to Thailand I am going to make a fast run to the Chatuchak Weekend Market!

It was closed last year due to the floods :(

Hey, don't ruin this for me, I never had much of a shopping bug in me before but after all this time in the gym and enjoying the way clothes are fitting me I find that I want to find clothes that help me showcase all my hard work. It also helps that many of the spring and summer clothes are on sale and soon the big clothing sales will start.

Also I am growing use to getting compliments on my clothes. (Person on the street. "That is a very nice shirt! Where did you get it?" Me. What? This? Oh, I got it from the weekend market in Bangkok Thailand). (Person in restaurant. I like your necklace and bracelet, it has a strong masculine look, it's nice. Me. Thanks, I got it in Thailand from the Hill Tribe ladies when I was in Chiang Mai). (Guy at the bar. Those are some nice shorts, but Coogi is expensive! No, I got them from the Burlington Coat Factory, they were on sale).

I have given away some of the clothes I came home with.

Last night I unpacked a lot of my Thai Clothes and moved them into my closet to be worn before the end of the Summer.

Try Central America, South American and Africa - good places to hook up with latino and black guys.

Buck, rather than taking nearly empty luggage to Thailand since you plan to shop there....

Fill your luggage with all the excess clothing you don't plan to use, and donate it to a charity in Thailand. They probably need it more than any charity in the US, and can put it to better use.

And if you like TJ Max, whenever you visit NYC, check out a store called Daffy's. There are several in Manhattan, and they put TJ Max to shame.

This whole situation is quite simple. Some members don't like Buckwhoever. I can't really identify what it is but there is something about his postings that causes irritation. Honestly, he is not one of my favorite posters because he pretends to be aloof and above it all. Just the way I feel.

bucknaway
July 16th, 2012, 21:06
I have only met a handful of posters and I don't pretend to be anything. I am the same me online and offline. In reality I try not to sweat the small stuff and refuse to take part in drama and I try to be the same person online.

If anyone does not like me than there is precious little I can do about that.

bruce_nyc
July 16th, 2012, 21:20
By the way, what I meant about Daffy's stores (which are located in NYC, NJ, and PA), is that they have even hotter fashions, and even cheaper prices than TJ Max. ( And I'm not even into shopping, but my friends are. ) http://www.daffys.com

I was curious about shopping in Thailand. But it doesn't surprise me that the best shopping --- fashion per dollar --- is still the US. We are really spoiled with our shopping here. This city is always full of tourists from all over the world... and every family member has two hands full of all the shopping bags they can carry, at all times...

July 16th, 2012, 23:07
Well, this is fucking interesting - we definitely needed a thread about where is the best place to shop in America - I do hope it can become a regular feature so that we can be made aware of new store openings and discount codes etc.

Purely from my own observations, I would have to suggest that for those American fashion queens now resident in Pattaya, news of what is on offer at the Atlanta branch of Hefty Hideaways would be of more use than that of TJ Maxx where the waist size stops at 48" - although I have to add that in the UK at least the name is actually TK Maxx

The other thing SGF lacks is a discussion on which Utility provider gives the best price and service package in Oregon for Gas and Electricity on a Dual Fuel tariff - I do hope we can start on this as soon as possible as I for one can hardly wait.

I often do as you suggest bruce_nyc. I fly Business Class and have a large allotment for luggage and bring items for the bf and his friends. Mostly jeans and T-shirts from my favorite fashion boutiques; La Friperie/Thrift Shop and L\'Arme├й du Salut/Salvation Army (guess no one got my earlier joke) and La Cible/Tar-shay. I shop the boys section where you can find smaller sizes 27,28,30 W jeans (Levi and A&F are popular) and T shirts plus good quality.

Maybe next time something trendy for DaBoss from the Big Mens\' Section?

I can only guess as to why guys quote me smaller rates than what you find the norm. I write about the reality of my experience. I don't know what is the reality for others. Heck, I pay 10 baht when I ride the baht bus but a friend of mine swears it is 20 baht for non-thai. I don't argue with him, I just pay my 10 baht and get on with life.

Even now, when I go on Gay Romeo and talk to some of the massage guys they quote me less than their posted rate and when I was there in Pattaya the guys that were moneyboys told me they wanted no more than 500 baht for fun with me. Should I keep quiet about that? Should I be able to tell you and others what was asked of me by many of the money boys? I even shared when one guy started off at 2000 baht but kept lowering the price as we talked.

You have to adjust yourself to the reality of the situation. And if a Money Boy quoted me 500 baht for fast fun than I will give him 500 baht, and many of the guys simply wanted 500 baht from me, some wanted less and some wanted more. But for the most part most just wanted sex for no money at all.

I am sorry if my experience didn't sit well with you but all I can say is that we all were happy. How do I know this? Because I still chat with many of them on Gay Romeo and Grinder and they constantly ask me when I am coming back and talk about the things we will do.

I am sorry if my experience didn't sit well with you but all I can say is that we all were happy. Hey, more power to you. 500 baht is fine for you. You are younger and in shape, so they might enjoy having sex with you. My problem is when you suggest to others that 500 will make them happy. Many punters are either overweight, ugly, and lucky to be having sex with these guys. I think there are many cheap charlies out there taking advantage of the "up to you" policy that is rather rare throughout the rest of the world.
I was also thinking more of the bars than gay romeo where freelancers negotiate more.

I am writing this post because when I was putting away all my new clothes, I came across a large pile of new clothes I purchased in Thailand that I was saving for summer but have yet to wear. Summer is here now but I want to wear the latest clothes I purchased and many of my Thai clothes are going unused and unworn. I guess a lot of the whiners missed out on this part of your post. Great thread bucknaway I always enjoy your posts. You do have a talent for making those who ARE inferior in the looks department agitated to a point where they feel compelled to burden us good looking types with their miserable lot. Thailuv - I think it's you who is in danger of getting your frillies in a twist.

First you direct us to Bucky's original post and tell us we have "missed" part of the post about how the OP has "thousands of baht" worth of surplus clothes bought in Thailand.
Well, I didn't miss it - and I find it as uninteresting now as I did in the first place, but that's a matter of personal opinion and I guess some people might be rivetted - clearly you think it is fascinating.

You then go on to suggest that Bucknaway is adonis-like whereas martin911 is "inferior" in the looks department.
I have no idea whether this is accurate or not - but, in order to form your opinion I assume you have met both these people haven't you?

On the basis of just those two points, and especially if you are passing judgement on how people look without even having met them, I'd suggest you have your own "mental stability" professionally assessed

Chaps, chaps, lighten up a little, surely musing about experiences in/about Thailand is a great part of this board. I do shop in Thailand, mostly for stuff that I would not dream of wearing at home but that's part of a holiday is it not? Coming, as I do, from a generation and background that essentially lays down what is the right thing to wear (no brown in town, no stripes in the country) I really am a pretty boring shopper.........except on holiday!

Bangkok,a cool hotel room, an afternoon delight, a languid, post-coital smoke and the warm, supine object of my aforesaid delight lying beside me. Suddenly he shoots up, surveys the room, focuses on his benefactor and says, "dew whan let goh". In some perplexity I extinguish my cigarette and face him who has been the object of my desire. He looks at me as tho' I am being deliberately obtuse. "Dew whan let goh" he repeats, " dew know, let goh?" Sadly I shake my lowered head thinking "I really must get the hang of this language". He tries again, "let goh, dew know, let goh, let goh chopping, let goh disco". Finally it dawns on me - Lets go shopping, lets go to a disco - I've cracked it and I love this place. We dress and go out to buy something called a "churt"!!

On the basis of just those two points, and especially if you are passing judgement on how people look without even having met them, I'd suggest you have your own "mental stability" professionally assessed

:occasion9:

I obviously must have hit too close to home cheer up will ya :sign5:

Not to mention how many farangs have commented on how many times they buy their Thai bf clothing only to never see it being worn

Moneyboys (as in more than one guy )in Pattaya told you they wanted \"NO MORE \" than 500 baht for fun with you --- they actually told you this ??

Bucky are you ok??-because to come out with a statement like that you really are talking about something that is just not credible -- that is plain to anybody that has visited here

What utter crap to come from you this time -

Thailuv -- what are you on about ??? "up to me " what --

I believe you are the person who questioned my mental stability re bucks topic --
Do i take it you think i responded to it(bucks first post ) because i feel inferior in the looks dept to Buck etc
Then you cert dont know me at all !!
Not everybody visiting Pattaya is of the more older/heavier profile (although this is totally natural as we all go through life )

I myself am the right side of 40( but very barely 555) and weigh 65kgs and my longterm thai Bf likes my face so i dont feel inferior to buck or anybody else

Whilst i dont have guys coming up to me in Sunne and groping me like Buck it happens enough in clubs in pattaya/bkk/manila for me to think that others out there still like me so im perfectly happy with how i look thanks

So im afraid you are misguided in your opinion of my response -- --
I responded because i thought it was a boring subject (shopping in atlanta hasnt got a lot to do with Gay Thai INMHO ) and i thought buck was being very silly in thinking that his narcisstic outpourings were of interest to anybody -i am of the opiniion that those opinions about onself are best kept to oneself !!

I thought when you go that you were going to have yourself stuffed and put on display in the main lobby of the Bkk Shang ???

The staff at my old company said they were going to stuff me and put me in the corner of my old business with a tape recorder at the bottom with me pre recording insults and screaming at them for all various things. They said when they felt lonely, they just would turn it on and listen to a few so as to get them going again. :sign5:

Now getting back on topic - I bought 3 Boss label T shirts in Pattaya and had to give one of them to the boy I'd offed the morning after, as his attire at work when I met him first was attractive, but at 10.00 wasn't suitable for strolling around looking for breakfast. Us older queens still have our standards. :sign5:

My experience in Pattaya is that the boys don't seem to care much what I wear, as long as one of my accessories is that leather thingy in my back pocket.

ENOUGH CLOTHING

CLICK TO BUY CHEAP GOOD ... (http://www.sawatdee-gay-thailand.com/forum/proof-satisfy-the-bitter-trolls-t26911.html) :naka:

Bucky,

I am not bitter, please just donate the clothes you not use to some charity.
In Thailand or USA (we all know USA has plenty of very poor homeless people)

Sorry ... NOT !!! - ???

I apologize to you if advance if you give to charity 10% of what you spend on clothes for yourself.

Please let us know if I need to apologize, or your expensive clothes are more important then hungry UN-educated children.

Just 1 less expensive jeans (http://pattayastreetkids.homestead.com/childrenneedingsponsors.html) click if you have a human heart.

I am in no way affiliated to this charity.
All I do is Sponsor 3 kids, yes boys, for their education, every year.
The amount for 1 kid is 1 ( ONE ) expensive Jeans or 1 ( ONE ) night, go home and sleep alone.

THANK YOU :bis:

I'm not going to toot my own horn on what I give and how I give. No one would believe it anyway. :hello2:

Good for you. You have too many clothes. Too bad other nationalities don't have that problem! When I go to the USA, the only thing I need to buy are sport shoes, athletic socks, some fun undergear such as Toots, xtg, or Andrew Christian underwear. The rest I can find on sale in Bangkok on sale for a good price (and more up to date than the styles found in the "cloned" middle class malls found in America.)

I live/work in Pattaya. Sorry, but I disagree with you. The only thing the "Pattaya boys" care about is how much money is in your back pocket.

Thrillbill is right - not all boys like their Client wearing a Gimp mask.
