There is a blog about gay saunas in Hong Kong and gay life in general: http://www.fuel-injected-male.blogspot.com

Much of that blog seems to be rubbish! I don't know what chips the writer is carrying on his shoulders, but having been a long time resident of Hong Kong and now a frequent visitor, what little I have read of that blog is pretty one-sided.

For saunas, much depends on your age and shape and the type of guys you are looking for. Central Escalator, which the blogs trashes, is one of the more popular for gay westerners of any age to meet gay Chinese. However, it is very small and it is not very active during week-days. But it tends to get very busy on Saturday and Sunday afternoons. I have found quite a number of attractive mainland Chinese venture there during the long week-ends they take in Hong Kong for shopping and sex. Note, however, that as the gay scene has opened up and more and more saunas have appeared, many - as in Bangkok - are more for locals looking for locals. Many Hong Kong people can also have an 'attitude' to westerners they don't fancy or who try to make unwelcome overtures. This page gives more details of some others -

Also check out some of the more recent reviews on the utopia-asia site -

As you'll know, the most popular gay dance club is Propaganda. It's situated in a little lane behind the end of Hollywood Road where it joins upper Wyndham Street. There are a number of exclusively gay bars, including T:IME which is not far from Propaganda. (It's address is Hollywood Road, but like Propaganda access is from the lane behind).

If you want something in between a gay bar and a disco, the new Psychic Jack lounge bar (formerly Propaganda and then Works) - also close to Propaganda - has been getting excellent reviews.

Although not gay, the popular Club 97 in the Lan Kwai Fong district (also not far from Propaganda and Psychic Jack!) has been running gay happy hours from 6:00 - 10:00 pm on Fridays with good music and a DJ for a couple of decades now. These are usually packed and can be a good way of meeting many different ages and types of Chinese and western guys.

You will find the best and most up to date information along with detailed maps in a small free publication called the Q Guide published by DS Magazine. i have tried to find a weblink but cannot. However, most gay venues in Hong Kong carry it.

Volume Beat and Zoo bars are diagonally across from each other on the same street... Both are gay bars, very social and packed on Friday/Saturday nights. Propaganda is a late-night gay nightclub/danceclub (after 11pm, I think) which also gets packed and is within walking distance of these two bars.

So I've found what makes for a good night out is heaing over to Volume Beat and Zoo for a few hours before transitioning to Propaganda nearby.

Honkies aren't terrible romantic, gentle or warm. They can be quite direct about wanting to hook up and have sex, which I find funny in a way... almost endearing. When I visit, one of the acquintances I've made sizes me up almost like a mamasan/matchmaker... "what kind of boy do you want? Just tell me what kind of boy you want tonight and I find him for you... for you very easy for me to find a boy... mmmm!... you good looking, have nice chest, handsome, cute face... so easy! Let me find for you!". It sounds like he's offering to find me a prostitute but he's really just talking about hooking me up with one of his friends and acquintances LOL.

I came across this set of listings called gayhk.com Lots of sauna and massage/"spa" listings. Plus what appear to be freelancers. Lots appear to actually be located in Shenzhen though.
